The DILEX with Metal Kickstand is a light, protective companion for smart devices on the go. It provides shock absorbing protection with two interlocking layers in a thin case for your HTC Droid DNA. The design and materials in the plastic and silicone provide users with improved device grip, while the rubberized coating on the exoskeleton makes it easy to slip the case in and out of a pocket or purse. The built-in metal kickstand can be used in landscape orientation for a hands free experience when viewing multimedia, managing photo slideshows, and displaying clocks and calendars. The DILEX with Metal Kickstand does not support the device in portrait orientation.

UPDATE: The kickstand got very hot last night on the charger. With a little experimentation I discovered that it is dependent on where you place the phone on the charger. If you place the phone high on the charger (where the kick stand is over the center), then it gets hot. If you place it low on the charger, things stay cool enough and all is well. Be careful and watch it the first few times you charge it to make sure your charging pad doesn't behave differently.
I have been waiting for Seidio to finally release this case for the Droid DNA, and man am I glad they did. I have previously owned the exact same case for my Thunderbolt (but back then, the kickstand was plastic, and now they are always metal on Seidio cases), as well as the same case for the Galaxy Nexus with the metal kickstand, and I also bought the same case for my uncle's Samsung Galaxy S3.
When I upgraded from my Thunderbolt to the Droid DNA, the kickstand feature was one of the things I missed most, and I was beginning to get worried that Seidio may not make a kickstand case for the Droid DNA since it had been 3 months.
The silicon portion of the case has an excellent feel (and smell to it), and is of better quality than most other silicon cases you would find out there. Although you could, I wouldn't recommend using ONLY the silicon case, because it is made to have a slightly loose fit because the second part holds it on and maintains its shape. This was true for the Thunderbolt and Galaxy Nexus versions of this case, so I am certain it is intentional because its really easy to take off once you remove the exoskeleton layer, but its not so loose that you have to worry about your phone slipping out of it if you only have it in the silicon case temporarily. Dust really loves to sling to the silicon part of this case, but it wipes off easily.
MOST IMPORTANTLY: THE SLIGHTLY LOOSE FIT OF THE SILICON COVER WILL NOT INTERFERE WITH A SCREEN PROTECTOR UNLIKE THE CRUZERLITE TPU CASES. I have the ArmorSuit screen protector, and when I try to put one of the TPU cases on my phone, they are so tight that it pushes the screen protector and causes it to bubble around the edges, but it works great with this case and does not bubble up!
In addition, the exoskeleton back that goes over the silicon piece is made of hard plastic that is rigid enough to provide great protection, but flexible enough to easily slip it onto the silicon cover without putting any significant stress on it, while also being soft, smooth, and rubberized to the touch.
Most importantly, the exoskeleton provides great protection for the corners of the device, which is something the Otterbox fails to do. Not to mention, this is a far more elegant and dare I say more expensive looking case than the Otterbox. I chose the garnet red color and it is a perfect complement to the red accents of the phone. It is mostly flat, with just a very small amount of shine to it that almost makes it look metallic and very sleek. It also manages to remain relatively streamlined, having only slightly more bulk than the Poetic Atmosphere and Cruzerlite TPU cases (which of course, is to be expected with a more rugged case such as this that offers dual-layer protection), but it still has a thin profile and fits in my pocket just as easily as the other two cases.
The case fits the phone snugly with the exoskeleton piece attached and the hole for the speaker grill is cute precisely around all 4 rows of holes, thus not blocking any of the sound. In addition, Seidio was also smart enough to include a small cutout hole for the rear notification LED, and even when viewing at an angle, the thickness of the case does not block being able to see the LED. Also, since only the silicon portion of the case surrounds the microUSB port, it is still easy to open the little door/flap that covers the port. I have not gotten the chance to see if wireless charging will still work while this case is on, but my guess is that it may not due to having two layers of material. I will update my review when I can test that functionality.
The kickstand as you may have already guessed can only be used for landscape viewing as the phone is not wide enough in relation to its height to be supported in portrait mode by the kickstand, since the kickstand is towards the bottom end of the phone. But but I never find any reason to use a device in portrait mode when using a kickstand anyway.
And lastly, the volume and power buttons are also easy to press when using the phone with this case.
If you have this phone, I truly can not fathom why you would even consider buying any other case on the market now that this is out, because it really does not get any better than this. You'll be glad you got it and probably even the envy of your friends if you choose one of the various color options.
That isn't to say this Seidio Active case isn't nice- it is! It's gorgeous! It does add some bulk but not to the point of absurdity. Remember the DNA is a big phone to begin with so for reviews that complain "this case is bulky!"...well, the phone is kind of bulky to being with! The kickstand is a nice feature, too, and the combination silicone skin/skeleton is just COOL. So why didn't I keep it?
While overall bulk wasn't a deal-killer, the kickstand alone adds bulk and weight for a feature I just don't see myself using. When you look at the profile of the case you realize just how much kickstand you're toting around. The other thing that didn't sell me was the soft edges of the silicone inner liner where it met the phone. It was VERY soft, and didn't grip the edges of the phone so much as it just kind of sat there. The slightest touch cause the silicone to pull back from the edge of the phone. TO BE SURE: This isn't a fault! It's just not my cup of tea.
On the up side, it looks AWESOME, offers what I imagine is fantastic drop protection, goes on and off easily (but is very secure when on the phone), and if the kickstand is your thing it's a great little piece of engineering. For me, though, for everyday carry the slim/minimalist Diztronic case won out. But for times when more protection is needed (ergo the "Active" name, I suppose!) I may very well buy this case again with the holster. If I do, I will update this review.
