5.0 out of 5 stars Not an Orange Monster, but maybe better! More Grown up!
By Rex on June 13, 2018
I really like this watch...more than expected. The angular form of the case always made me cautious of ordering and I felt deep regret after I opened the box and saw the sharp lines, but after putting it on the wrist...I felt complete (not really, but you get the idea). On the wrist, the sharp lines start to soften and it looks like a nice and clean grown up watch with a small twist. The color takes the snooty aspect out of that watch and makes it acceptable for the wild everyman! The orange of the face is flatter and softer than expected. It doesn't have a sheen and is not neon orange. It is not pastel, but is starting to lean in that direction. seriously, the color of this watch makes me happy. I like the monster hands and overall aesthetics of the watch. See attached photo for reference as to how it is softer of an orange than a monster. Also, the printing is smaller and more delicate than the monster for grown-up situations.

Small downside, the indices are not perfectly aligned with the chapter ring and the bezel is not dead on, but I can live with it.

No comment on the movement, I am not a movement guy and can't tell the difference when the watch is running. Also, I have not worn the bracelet, I wanted to immediately wear it, so I threw it on a BluShark nato and it remains there.

Long story, early in 2017, I wanted a nicer watch to wear for the rare business casual days for work and my G-shock did not fit the bill. I found the orange monster (which I almost bought back in 2008 and found again in 2017) and could not live without it. I understand that the monster is not a "dress watch" but I was tumbling down the rabbit hole headfirst. however, I was one year too late. The normally $200 watch was $500 plus! I got in on a halloween orange monster for $225 (now is $500+), but it did not complete the mission. It was not a real "orange monster." Then I went down the slippery slope of cheaper automatic divers (skx009, orient ray II, Phoibos wavemaster, seiko orange mohawk [on order]) and they did not solve the problem...but I think this watch is nicer and more versatile than the Orange Monster. It looks more grown-up and serious but that orange helps me stay grounded and "keeps it real."

so if you wanted an orange monster, maybe this is something for you to fill that void in your life...also, when the price was hovering around $300...I couldn't say no.

And don't let people scare you about the "pin and collar" system in the band. You still push the pin out like normal, but there is a small collar in the center part of the link. Just make sure you put the small collar back in the same hole in the center part of the link before re-inserting the pin. I do not know why people make it sound more difficult than it is.

5.0 out of 5 stars Couldn’t be happier!
By Amazon Customer on December 27, 2019
I have always wanted an orange faced dive watch (read a lot of Clive Cussler growing up) but a Doxa was not in the cards. I have always love dive watches for their durability and water resistance. I own a Citizen professional 300 meter dive watch but it sits really high on the wrist. This one melts into the wrist and sits very flat. The bracelet is great and the watch very accurate. The lume is very bright and stays visible for hours. Now for the best part: The retail for this watch is $525 but nobody pays retail. The price dipped as low as $233 before Christmas and I pulled the trigger at $237. Today I saw it is at $280. So on top of getting a great watch, I got a bargain too. No regrets!

Edit: still love the watch but it is now up to $285...better grab one

Love this watch. It checked all of my boxes: It is a dive watch certified to 200 meters with an automatic movement and by a reputable watchmaker. Oh yes...and it has an orange dial with great lume. It has stunning looks and gets me lots of compliments too.

Added the uncle Seiko beads of rice bracelet for a vintage look. Don’t hesitate. This is a watch worth owning!

5.0 out of 5 stars Not bad for <$300
By Adam F. on October 30, 2018
Better than expected. Can’t describe how great the orange is. Has to be seen. I added the orange NATO strap to really set it off. Second hand sweep is very smooth. The luminous hands are very bright in the dark. It’s a large watch, not going to lie, but if you have the arm/wrist for it then the watch has great presence.

I have a collection of Tag Heuer watches at each cost >$1,000, and this is now steady in rotation. Great value.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great TRUE divers watch.
By theoriginalsubguy on May 8, 2019
Excellent authentic divers watch. You can truly bring this watch to full recreational diving depth (and beyond) and it will keep working perfectly.

Wears small, which is great as this watch is nearly 44mm. Love it! Love that it isn’t copying Rolex. It’s a true seiko design and iconic in its own right.

I’ve attached a photo of when the hands are in the “rocket ship” position.
