The watch face is attractive and easily readable. It isn't obvious that the face doubles as a solar collector. The hour and minute hands are slightly luminescent, so you can (barely) approximate the time in the dark.
Being analog, it is thicker than most all-digital wrist watches. The metal watch band can be adjusted a little bit, but not much. I had to take mine to a jewelry shop to have a link removed from the band. (Or you can buy a tool to do it yourself here on Amazon.)
Being analog, it has no idea how many days are in a month ... so you must manually adjust the date change-over on months with fewer than 31 days. This isn't difficult to do. There is no AM/PM indicator, so to set the date/time you must first set the week-day/date to the previous day, then advance the hands until the day/date advance so you know the time is now AM.
Ordered this watch hoping the white face will look nice, but to my surprise this watch was more that awesome and classy on my hand. The white face and the markers fit together in perfect harmony.
I have a medium size wrist, and the weight of this watch is almost nothing on my hand. The size of the watch face is perfect, no too big and not too small, fits almost every hand.
After 10 minutes of having the watch, I set the watch to the current time and date. It's so simple and universal the idea of setting it up.
After all, Seiko is one of the watch makers that knows how to make a classy watch.
The time keeping is excellent, probably averaging a half dozen seconds +- weekly. It's accurate enough that I haven't even messed with resetting it since I bought it.
It looks like it should cost a lot more than it did. I work in a medical facility, where doctors actually asked me about it. Punches above its weight class in aesthetics. Perhaps to the dismay of fashionistas, I eventually put it on a white silicone band. It's comfortable as hell and still looks very nice. Putting on the band was easy enough to do at home with a tiny screw driver for the pins.
I also have owned and own many Seiko watches and believe that Seiko virtually always offers very good watches for the price.
While this is not a very large watch, its elegance and simple design is very attractive. I'm particularly fond of white (not silver) dials and I don't recall coming across many white solar wristwatches.
The watch is very accurate. After a full charge it keeps time at the rate of +1 second every three days, which I will happily settle for.
If you're in the market for an inexpensive solar watch and prefer simplicity of design and a smaller size, this would be a great choice.
BONUS: Doesn't pull arm hair!
