When I opened the package the watch was already ticking, but it had to be reset. I set it to the atomic clock on the second and it is still accurate to within a second a couple weeks later.
I would suggest paying a little extra for two day shipping. Think of it this way, you will get to have your watch for another week, so your watch will be a week newer than if you paid for economy shipping. Who wants to wait for something like this anyway?
The rotating bezel is awesome. I use it about five times a day - I prefer to use it rather than the chronograph to time my 30 minute lunch break at work. I can't believe I wore watches that didn't have it - such a good feature. The chronograph is great, since the actual second hand is a stopwatch rather than the second hand. I always preferred watches that had a sub second hand, and this is the nicest sub second hand dial I have ever seen on a watch. It is big for a sub second hand and even has Luminova on it.
Last night I tested the luminosity of the watch.Read more ›
This is by far the coolest of the bunch, in looks, quality vs. cost, and "wow" factor. Yeah, I'm a watch geek, and have around 30 watches, but you just can't beat this watch for value and quality.
Dead on accurate (as most quartz watches are); solar charged; size, 200 meter depth rating, good lume, readable dial and registers, and a chronograph function no less! Even screw down chrono pushers!
The only negative is the date window is rather small, and has a black background with white numerals. A little hard to read with older eyes.
Other than that, you need this watch, you want this watch!
I've got an SSC017 and a few mechanical Seiko's. I'm a Seiko fan.
The watch I got was ok, but not great.
First, the watch was "fulfilled by Amazon", but came in a very worn generic box, with a Seiko manual, but no warranty card. It has a "store" warranty. This is my major beef with buying any watch online. You need to be totally careful, and I thought I was... but... a real box, the correct book (mine was Seiko but for a different non-solar model) and the warranty would have been nice. I may send it back.
As for the watch itself, it appears ok. The band is terrible. Too stiff. Does not sit on the wrist well.
I've got a Strapcode super engineer in all black on the way for this watch. If decide to send the watch back, I'll order another like it, but from a more reputable source.
(the edited part)
I decided to keep it.
More about the watch. Grey market being what it is... sigh.
The watch is wonderfully accurate. Off by about -4 seconds in three weeks. I like that. Found a place on a window sill that that I can charge both the SSC021, and the SSC031 I've got. The "031" is the Pepsi blue/red version of this same watch. Its off by about -7 seconds, still well within expectations.
The Seiko rubber diver's strap is very stiff. Thats, I tossed it. Instead, I've got a StrapCode super engineer in black. Very comfy, also very stylish. The SSC021 is a mix of black and chrome, with a lot of black accents. The black band compliments it, yet.. the super engineer bracelet (like a flat link Jubilee, sort of) has enough highlights from its many angles that it looks very nice. I get a lot of questions and compliments on this watch.Read more ›
This watch is a steal at this price and is the perfect combination of old school Seiko stainless case, updated but traditional looks with a high-tech solar movement and improved illumination. Buy it before the price goes up!

Very nice solar-powered diver watch.
As other reviewers have noted, the Seiko-brand rubber watchband can feel kind of stiff and starchy, but I'm hoping it relaxes a bit with... Read more
I bought this for my 14 year old grandson. He loves it! And so did each and every one of his friends, I wouldn't be a bit surprised if they asked their parents for one. Read morePublished 2 months ago by Virginia R.
