The book here consists of a poem she wrote for an angry teenaged girl asking what is the meaning of it all. This was her response. It is a poems of about twenty six lines basically owning every part of herself (mind, body, feelings etc) and stating these are what she takes responsibility for. The lines of the poem are broken up with some delightful drawings next to them.
Satir was a pioneer in using poems in therapy, as the focus of words can underline a point very effectively. The style of this poem is in someways reminiscent of Whitman's great poem "Song of Myself." Perhaps not as great literature as that work, but certainly of use to therapists for use as an affirmation of self at an appropriate time.
