No, I don't want to give up mac & cheese in order to lose the pounds I've gained since I've been in my sixties. I still dress for the image I want to present, so who cares if I'm not the skinniest one in the room anymore? Not me! And yes, I need to give more time to things my friends and even my husband don't think much of. Their loss. And, amazingly enough, I actually have at least tried everything I've ever wanted to do. Really. On some level, I've even succeeded.
I'm .doing it my way now. I do my best work in the middle of the night and if others don't like it, too bad. I'm not hurting them and I'm not hurting myself. If I want to block old friends on Facebook because all they want to do is complain about each other, that's just fine. And yes, I'm estranged from my forty-eight year old daughter. It wasn't my choice and I'm not going to try to make it okay anymore. I don't have the time, the energy, or even the desire.
I've got a life to live and anybody who criticizes or otherwise tries to get in my way can expect to hear about it. Loud.
Thank you, Liisa! I'm looking forward to 2017. This year (2016) has been both terrible and productive, and next year is going to be legendary. I don't have time to waste trying to make it okay for everyone else anymore.
Buy this book! It'll rattle you up so things can settle the way they should be. Do yourself this one, not-so-small favor.
