Excellent view into human trafficking and a quick easy read. If you have a daughter (or even a son), it is wise to read and be aware of the many ways that they suck (or trick) a child into prostitution and then keep them there against their will. It is enlightening how these innocent children become victims and eventually give up on a normal life.

It is an excellent read also for law enforcement personnel to be more aware of who the true victims are versus the criminals. If people were more aware of what is actually happening in regards to human trafficking, then perhaps change could take place.

I think every person should read this book. It is a must read if you want to be educated and have influence for change.

Reading this book by Marc was rather bitter sweet. It was a good read and the material was excellent. However, I've spent time talking to Marc and have even been in some of his classes and I never knew this much was happening in America alone. I could hear Marc's voice the entire time as he talked about human trafficking, something he's so enthusiastic about. Great read.

I've barley hear any talk about the subject of sex trafficking, and when I do, usually people mention it occurring in foreign countries. That's not the case, and while reading I found myself debunking my previous knowledge on prostitutes, gangs, etc. This book is an eye-opener and a very detailed read. The stories provided are chilling and down right scary, especially knowing these type of events are happening everyday to countless victims. I appreciate Marc Evans knowledge at the subject at hand, and it stirred some change in me to start talking and investigating the subject further for additional details.

Selling the Daughters of America is a book about human trafficking. One hundred and fifty years ago we would have called this slavery. Today it is about a different kind of slavery just as devastating and just as insidious. In today’s world we don’t have public auction blocks where human beings are sold to the highest bidder, but our daughters are being sold just the same. The daughters of America are being kidnapped, coerced, forced and beaten into a life of prostitution.
I take personal offence at those who would engage in the practice of slavery in any of its forms or by what ever name you would want to call it. My great great grandfather Jerome Nathan Secord (1836-1886) on my dad’s side, and my great great grand father Henry Bowen (1840-1919) on my mom’s side both fought in the Michigan Regiment during the U.S. Civil War to save the Union and free the slaves. Anyone who has served in the military and fought for the cause of freedom knows full well the price that has been paid for this freedom. To steal freedom or worse yet sell it away is incomprehensible.
Lieutenant Marc Evans of the L.A.P.D. is a 19 year veteran and has worked undercover vice for a number of those years. Marc has experienced first hand the victims of human trafficking and the difficulty of bringing the perpetrators of this crime to justice. The really sad part of this is the fact that it is not just some gang of thugs that are participating in this crime but sometimes it is a father, mother, or some other relative that sells their daughter into this form of slavery.
If anyone say the movie, “Taken” be aware that the human traffickers do not need to be that elaborate or in some foreign land they are right here in America. This book is a must read for every mother & father and anyone else who wants to know how to protect our daughters.

I believe this knowledge is something people don't want to believe and certainly would not relate to anyone they know. I had no idea that most of these girls and women were so victimized from the very beginning. Training must be insisted on immediately and every parent should know how this happens in order to better protect their children

The book is very informative about the topic of sex trafficking. It makes me worried about my own daughters, they have to read this book when they get a little older. I would have liked to hear more stories about traffickers that they caught and more about the investigative strategies that led to their arrests.
