For example, a Marine wouldn't have had sex out in the open like that. It would be a disgrace to his commander, his unit, his government, and to the woman. There were other places to have done the deed.
Also, if Logan is an Alpha male, he wouldn't...'Logan was watching me timidly. "I don't guess you'd like to sail today, would you?"' An Alpha male may be unsure, but never timid in an approach to a female.
Another fub is when Mattie answers him. '"I think I'd really like that." I respond seeing the surprise on his face.' Did he have a surprised expression as he asked the question, or did he look surprised after she said she'd like to go sailing? We needed to know his reaction first, before she answered, or a reader is left wondering.
Because we can't hear what Logan is thinking, there is a missing element that a seasoned author understands and can convey by the use of devices such as having Mattie wonder about a look or comment he makes, and then having him confirm the thought by speaking it aloud. This, and other literary devices, would help give us more understanding behind Logan. Because of his missing perspective, it reads as if he is one-dimensional. And that's a pity because there's a great deal of good work here, too.
Both the Coopers have created a "sell-able" plot. There are good reactions, and cute dialogue, but it's too sparse. There is also a smattering of caricature in the personalities of Ronald and Gracie.
As I said, I doubt I'll finish this one, but I did recently read another by Laura Copper, entitled My Hot Bedtime Stories: Volume 1. It wasn't bad. I'll keep an eye opened for future books by this team.
