I just received these as a replacement for my old "plantronics audio .326" that I accidentally wrecked. I gotta say, I've owned lots of headsets in my life and these are easily the best sounding that I've ever owned. The highs are clear and crisp, and the lows present and tight all without being overwhelming. I haven't made or received calls with it yet, but I tested the microphone with a loopback and it sounds good. The cable is nice and long in order to reach my pc, and the control on the line isn't excessively heavy, although I know it's there and it will pull on the headphone wire a bit if it's hanging. I've had them on for about 2 hours now, and they seem a bit tight on my ears. I do wear a size 7 3/4 hat, so it's probably my large head. I'm hoping that repeated wearing will stretch them out a bit. The ear pads themselves are foam, and have no covering. That's exactly what I wanted, since the leather (or pleather) covering tends to rub off - and makes my ears sweat. I'm a convert, and I'll certainly buy other sennheiser products in the future. It really seems like they are thinking a lot about the quality of their product, and not just competing for prices.
So , I've owned these now for a while. They're still awesome. The microphone works great. I've only had one complaint about my fan blowing across the mic, which apparently sounded like I was standing outside in a storm. They seemed to have stretched out ever so slightly, so they still sit tight on my head without hurting my ears. I'm able to wear them for hours on end, and enjoy music and take calls. The volume control/mute switch thing can be a bit annoying at times, but it's totally manageable. I'd buy these again in a second.

I've used these almost every work day since I bought them, and only retired them 6 months ago because I bought a bluetooth headset. Honestly, I might go back to these since I'm not very happy with the audio quality of my new bluetooth headset. They still work great. The only "problem" is that the volume control pot has gone a bit scratchy. Being a long-time musician, that's a problem I'm very familiar with and really don't consider it a big problem. If these were bluetooth, they'd be absolutely perfect for phone use.

Meh -- Here are the Pros and the ConsPros:1) Sounds great, as you would expect2) Microphone seems to work well. I work from home and I use this headset to communicate across the country, so I need to be heard.Cons:1) It's crazy wide, for people with really fat heads. This sort of just rests on my head. And if I shake my head it shoots across the room.2) It doesn't connect into a normal 3.5 mm plug. It plugs into TWO 3.5 mm plugs. That's weird, right!? Maybe I'm out of touch? 10 years behind the times? But the smart phone that I use to work from home only has one 3.5 mm plug. So I had to buy an extra $8 attachment that takes 1 audio 3.5 mm plug + 1 mic 3.5 mm plug and converts it into 1 "normal" 3.5 mm plug that I can use on my phone. (SEE ATTACHED PICTURE)So it's very possible I missed in the product description, but you might need to buy another attachment if you want to use this to work from home.

These are the best headphones I've ever owned. My original pair lasted about 10 years from back when I first started playing World of Warcraft. The sound quality, both in the headphones and through the microphone is incredible. Small noises in the background and breathing are nearly entirely filtered out, which my friends appreciate. These headphones have been dropped on the ground, had their wire attacked by cats, bitten by my dog an incredible number of times and never cracked or diminished in quality. Their demise was brought about by one last fall, where the cord finally pulled a little too freely from where it connects to the earpiece. This exposed the inner wiring, and disconnected the mic. The headphones were still fine though!
The headphones feature a volume and mic-mute toggle switch on the cord. The volume control is crisp and accurate, but after about 5-6 years, became a bit less so. Small volume knob adjustments no longer adjusted the volume in the same way. But the feature is extremely useful, and found myself using it far more often than my keyboard's volume adjustment wheel. The earpads are made of a plush material wrapped in mesh and are extremely comfortable.
I just received my replacement pair, and the headphones haven't changed at all! Same incredible quality. I almost want to buy a lifetime supply in case Sennheiser retires them.
A few things to note:
1. My girlfriend has a smaller head than I do, and said that these sit a bit too loose for her. The headphones are highly adjustable, and I think this is more of a personal preference than a hard fact. I think everyone should try these, and not be dissuaded by claims of their catering to larger heads.
2. At first, the ear pads may feel a bit stiff. In comparing my 8-year-old pair to my new pair, the new pair is considerably stiffer, but this is something that you will eventually break in. My old pair are extremely comfortable, and I'd find myself putting them on even if I wasn't planning to use them!
3. This pair comes with two 1/8th inch connections, so your computer will need a separate microphone and headphone jack. I find this to be a huge bonus when I use my laptop, because I can remove the headphone plug when I want to play sound from my laptop speakers instantly. But make sure you have separate jacks for headphones and microphones, or you will have to choose between using one over the other.

If you want a non-USB headset these are very good.

I guess these are OK. I just prefer the versatility of USB connected devices. When they work perfectly they work excellently, sadly configuration and operation is not as straightforward as USB devices. Plus I have anything cooking my ear (ear infection inducing) and now I use a £3 USB desk microphone and my standard speakers and the mic is just as good.

An excellent pair of headphones

This is the first time I have ordered Sennheiser & I have been very impressed with the quality of the product and the sound. The cord is very long but that's not a bad thing. The build quality is robust - it has stood up to my toddler playing with them on several occasions.
I've used them for listening to music, internet gaming & Skype. All in all, I have no complaints and would recommend this product to others.

Good for the price, but some drawbacks that really prevented me from truly liking it

Bought these back at the end of November 2012. When I first got them, it was a huge upgrade for me from my old headset. I just plugged, played, and was immediately rewarded with crisp sound and a clear mic. I completely stopped using the built-in mic on my laptop and was using the headset for everything virtually 24/7. I'm not sure how my ear size compares to the average Canadian and while the headset was comfier than my last unit, after a couple of hours, my ears started to hurt. For anybody buying this, do keep in mind this is an on-the-ear headset and if I had to start from scratch in picking a new headset, one of my criteria would definitely have been over-the-ear.
The included cable is generously long, but I constantly had a problem with the placement of the in-line volume control, which I found would constantly and unrelentingly get caught between my chair seat and arm rest. You know when you are listening to your mp3 player and your headphones get caught on something and get ripped out of your ear, making way for a completely illogical, but somehow necessary fit of rage? This headset has admittedly induced that same wrath more times than I would like to admit.
Finally, when it comes to the durability of this headset, things fall a bit short. Nowadays, the headset will only play sounds out of both sides if the cord is set just right in the in-line volume control and I have to manipulate the mic position so much to get it to even half-work, that I might as well call it broken.
All-in-all, was a decent headset for the price, but might have chosen differently knowing what I know now.

Great PC headset
Reviewed in Canada on May 16, 2014
Have owned 2 of these headsets before. The first one is about 7 years old and is a bit beaten up, but still works great. I purchased another one off amazon recently to use with my ps4(requires a cheap adapter to plug into the controller). It's comfortable to wear for long periods of time, the mic sounds really good over voip services and online gaming, and the cord is really long and durable. If I had any criticisms of this headset it would just be that the volume at its max setting could be a bit louder.
