Only complain is that the cable can be too long for people who are not djing but these headphones weren't made for personal use anyway.
Overall a very high quality product. Sound for me is a big plus and these are excellent.
Sound: Excellent bass, not the muddy type you find in beats, other cheaper brand headphones. Mid's and High's are also really great. Sound stage is the best I've experienced yet. You can really push these headphones without losing sound quality. Often find myself listening way too loud, but when they sound this good its hard not to.
Build quality/comfort: The headphones are made of metal and high quality plastic in the headband. The bearing that connects the headphones to the headband has a nice click into place when selecting one of the three positions. One of my favorite things that the earcups do is swivel side-to-side, which really helps isolate noise and get a secure fit around your ears. The forward angle on the earcups also help with comfort and to not sit on top of your ear. The cushion in the headband could be a little better, but for the most part you can wear these for long periods of time without an issue.
Overall I'm very glad I purchased these headphones and haven't regretted it. I work at a electronics store and have tried Beats, Sony, Solo, Bose and these headphones put any of those to shame. Do yourself a favor and pick a pair of these up and skip buying anything inferior.
I was using the pioneer hdj2000's for 6 years and had no issues until the wiring withing the head band also failed. So I decided to try the HD8's. If I knew they would fail within 8 months I would have never bought them. I keep the HD8s in the case they came in when I'm not using them. The pioneer's where never in a case and always thrown in my backpack. I'm surprised they lasted that long.
Now I have to go through the hastle of checking the warranty on them and most likely sending them in to get fixed.
I gig 3-4 times per week so this is definitely inconvenient. I also have to buy something to use while I see what happens with these. So much for spending $300 on head phones.
I spent a long time trying to decide whether I should buy the HD25 again or try these nez ones.
There are some pros and cons but I don't regret my choice.
I use these headphones almost exclusively at home, on a MacBook Pro retina, with a focusrite USB soundcard (much better sound than the included audio chipset obviously).
I love the build quality.
I love that they are quite heavy (but that's me)
I love the sound, though quite different from what I was used to (HD25 especially), bassier
I love that they fold.
I love that I can but the cable either on the left-side or the right-side.
They are bassier (yeah I know I put that also in the pros category)
It is difficult to find the right spot so the pressure is not too much after a couple hours
I don't use that much the fact that the earcups have several positions. I usually just do what I usually do, pull one of these behind one of my ear
They are hard to drive.
Although they are usable with my MP3 player (Cowon J3), they lack some amplification. That's one of the reasons I mainly use them at home (that and the fact that I now have my Focals at work). They would probably need some kind of portable amplification to sound great when I'm not at home.
