IE 40 PRO
Dynamic in-ear monitoring headphones with precise sound at both low and high sound pressure levels; for maximum control on loud stages. Secure fit thanks to ergonomic design and a robust construction suitable for stage use.
- Did you know? Most IEM systems use multi-driver solutions derived from conventional hearing aids.
- IE 40 PRO is different; it uses a next generation dynamic single-driver; meaning the frequency range does not have to be split up into sections but remains harmonious as a whole.
Secure fit and high level of wearing comfort
Innovative single driver design enables a slim and ergonomic construction. The design has been optimized; checked against hundreds of ear shapes and redesigned for a universal fit using any of the three foam adapters.
Reinvented down to the last detail
Without monitoring sound, there is no performance.
The innovative diaphragm delivers a warm sound, yet powerful and precise, even in extremely loud environments. Even at maximum sound pressure levels, the signal remains distortion-free and precisely defined.
A superior monitoring device for musicians and DJs
A compact design combines a secure fit with excellent wearing comfort. It’s robust construction is designed to be suitable for the rigors of stage use from the connection to the cable duct.
Meets high expectations and withstands high stresses
We have even reinvented stage-compatible cabling – the internal cable duct is a unique feature (patent pending).
Small but mighty. Comfortable.
Excellent shielding thanks to optimized earpiece and flexible silicone and foam tips. There are no distortions because the special diaphragm – unlike the more rigid drive principle of the multi-way drivers – resonates easily even at maximum sound levels.

I thought that maybe I was getting bleed from the outside and that maybe the seal wasn't good. I took a pair of ear protection muffs and wore them OVER these monitors. And I could hear the same exact clarity. I then switched back to the Shure SE215 buds and used the same protection muffs. Same isolation, but the sound was dull and lacked the high end. I'm convinced that these new Sennheiser produce a better sound that I have been missing for years. I thought all monitors would sound like this because they are Shure and a well known brand. But Sennheiser is also a well-known brand but, the monitors REALLY stand out.
My EQ on the drum mics are ALL flat. No EQ whatsoever. I try to tune the drums to get the sound that I want first before I start messing with frequencies. These monitors brought the drums to life.
here are a few quick thoughts.
-The cable on these garbage, it wants to tangle with everything. It is replaceable with a better cable if wanted.
-The 3.5mm jack is a 90 degrees fitting, but it does not have a stand off making it impossible/impractical to use with most phone cases for rehearsal / practice off stage.
-the case that is supplied is basically a vinyl bag that doesn't really secure or pad the earbuds at all. completely garbage again.
my biggest issue with these honestly is the fit.
-my ear canals don't work well with the t-400/t-500 diameter tips. even with 3 different types of comply tips, i couldn't seat these in my ear well. the lack of seal ultimately led to reduced low end response, ear fatigue and what not. This simply defeats their purpose of being monitors because I can't hear a dang thing. I've used other audiophile earbuds with t-400/t-500 tips that worked just fine and sounded much better... in fact, even some crap MEE audio ones with the same diameter tips sounded and sealed better.
- there is no "signature Sennheiser sound' on these.
At the end of the day, there are 19 dollar MEE earbuds that sound just as good, have a better cord and better case.

I own several headphones than I can compare: Sony MDR-7506, MDR-7510, Sennheiser HD-25 (mk1), Sennheiser HD600. My test was run with an RME ADI-2 DAC.
First, i'm impressed with the value of this IEMs. The Sennheiser sound signature is here. It's quite comparble to the HD-25 in term of sound signature, maybe a little more room. However there are less punchy on the kicks and tiny bit less bass. But really, it sounds very close to the HD-25! I'm impressed.
Compared to the Shure SE215, I personally prefer the sound of the IE 40 Pros. The SE215 have too loud bass for me and do not sound as balanced and clear these ones.
The IE40 Pro are also smaller in the ear that is easier to fit and more comfortable.
However I have some durability concerns about the IE 40 Pro. I like the easy removable coax cable, but maybe too easy compared to the shure, it happened to me to diaconnect it by mistake already. Is this connector is suited for a lot of connections? This might be a concern for musicians in urge on stage.
Other than that, the build quality is great, on par with the se215.
The highs are quite good, but hisses on some specific samples, or voices pronouncing S.
Be sure to check s/n if you never tried momentum in ear and IE40 pro.
