Product description
The naughty yet very nice ninja girls of the SENRAN KAGURA universe return to the 3DS in a fresh, new 2.5D side-scrolling brawler. Featuring the series' trademark high-flying, clothes-ripping battle mechanics, SENRAN KAGURA 2: Deep Crimson follows the events of SENRAN KAGURA Burst, sending all 12 of the original cast members on another supernatural martial arts adventure through modern Japan. For the first time in the series, shinobi can fight in pairs, covering each other's backs or combining special techniques as needed, or fight alone to give their partners time to recover after bouts of intense combat. One player can control both team members, switching back and forth at will, or two players can fight together in co-op mode, side by side.

It's definitely one of the darker, if not the darkest entry to the Senran Kagura series so far since the main enemies are the yoma, the main baddies in this universe. It's pretty unnerving how some of the enemy/boss designs are, even horrifying are some of the bios. Least in this game people can learn the story of Kagura and Naraku, newcomers to the SK series and DLC in Estival Versus. The main thing apparently is that this is a separate timeline from the Versus title games.
What's a bit disappointing keeping it from a 5 star is that you can't play as Kagura or Naraku even after beating the game...no DLC for them or their outfits either. The stages feel kinda small or short, least compared to the original 3DS game. A lot of the enemies feel like you're fighting through paper, lacking the weight of actually striking something. The 3D boss battles are definitely a challenge, though some can be unbalanced especially at an earlier stage in the game when you're low leveled meaning grinding through challenges or going through easier difficulty. If you played through the first 3DS game, you will have a hard time getting used to enemy patterns here.
It's not a perfect 5 out of 5, but it's certainly up there and worth at least a full playthrough. Also, there's no actual nudity, just keep that in mind if you plan on picking it up for that. There's more character development and plot resolutions that happen in this game compared to the Versus series.

The soundtrack is great (60 tracks! All soundtracks in game bundles should always have at least this many songs.), and the inside behind the 2 discs will definitely make you smile or laugh (Hint: they are Haruka's). Having the instrumental version of Beyond Light and Darkness would've been cool, since you unlock it at the end of the game, but I'm already pretty happy about the number of tracks.
Only minor gripes are not being able to write to other online players what you want, as preset phrase bubbles are listed instead (A few people I played with did not know how to perform a Stacked Secret Ninja Art, which made final bosses in Yoma's Nest quite tedious. Being able to write custom messages would've helped.), and that 2 of the story chapters are a retelling of the ending of Burst and fights at a hot springs resort. I would've wanted more chapters featuring Kagura and Naraku.
Other than that, I highly recommend this game for lovers of hack 'n' slash and co-op games.
If you like beat'em ups and have a 3DS I would definitely recommend this.
The tag battles are really fun; a lot of work went into the character interactions. You'll probably also spend some in the dressing room trying out all the different costumes you can unlock and making your girls pose for the 3d camera! Pick this up!
