Introduction - worth reading to understand the author's mind set about the contents of the book
Chapter One, Water - other than dealing with immediate physical threats, securing water is the highest priority and this section provides quite a few good tips for addressing both sort term and long term needs
Chapter Two, Food - this is the largest chapter in the book and deals with affordable ways buying, storing (canning, drying), and preparing food
Chapter Three, First Aid and Beyond - good advice on planning for medical needs, leaves out Veterinarians as those also having useful medical training
Chapter Four, Let There Be Fire - "Fire Good", the importance of fire can not be overstated and the book covers a few good ways to safely prepare to make fire when needed
Chapter Five, Security - a fairly light chapter that includes basic good advice, but could be expanded - I recommend Holding Your Ground: Preparing for Defense if it All Falls Apart for those wanting more
Chapter Six, Pets Are Family Too - as a pet owner, I am glad to see more prepping books include sections on pet care during a crisis
Chapter Seven, Living Off The Grid - decent general advice, there are a lot of "deeper" books dedicated to this subject alone
Chapter Eight, Frugal But Smart - an interesting chapter that include practical recipes for making soap, curing bacon, making emergency soup - also includes the only advice that I strongly disagree with, "Homemade Emergency Candles". The author's instructions are too generic (specifically concerning wicking) and following the instructions as provided can produce ineffective or even dangerous candles, so I advise to just purchases inexpensive Emergency Candles in advance (such as Pepperell Paracord Survival Accessory Emergency Candle or Coghlan's Survival Candle) - Note; I am a professional, 3rd generation, candlemaker and take candle safety very seriously
Chapter Nine, Wrapping Things Up - good advice to live by!
Overall, this a solid starting point for the practical prepper. The second book in the series, Sensible Preparedness II: A Simple Guide to Preparing Your Family for Emergencies (Volume 2), is worth reading for dealing with more "practical matters" associated with longer duration emergency situations.
