"Barrett is remarkable when it comes to weaving a mystery, she is elegant, creative and delivers the goods. Sentenced to Death glistens like stars in an inky sky, sizzles like fireworks on the fourth of July, and serves you a complex puzzle to challenge your brain."

About the Author
The immensely popular Booktown Mystery series is what put Lorna Barrett's name on the New York Times Bestseller list, but it's her talent -- whether writing as Lorna, or L.L. Bartlett, or Lorraine Bartlett -- that keeps her there. This multi-published, Agatha-nominated author pens the exciting Jeff Resnick Mysteries as well as the acclaimed Victoria Square and Lotus Bay Mystery series, as well as the Tales of Telenia adventure-fantasy series, and has many short stories and novellas to her name(s).

The conclusion is only a few pages. Turns out the Deborah that Tricia knew, was not the real Deborah. Many people don't really care that she died. Her store is sold, and Ginny is named the new manager. Tricia now has only one employee, Mr. Everett. She wants to hire the widow of the pilot, but she turns up dead in her own home. Of course, Tricia stumbles onto her body. Grant Baker also takes a new job. Tricia doesn't want to just hang out and have fun with him. She wants more of a solid relationship. Everybody seems to be leaving her.
Russ even has a new girlfriend. Was Tricia right in her suspicions? Was she proven wrong? You will have to read the book. Tricia does have guts by the way she confronts people. Does she like all that she finds out? Read and find out for yourself.
Was this just an accident!?
Tricia starts to nose around and investigate.
I love this serie and this book has not only a good mystery but humor along with my favorite characters.
Tricia is also known as the town's "jinx" for her uncanny ability to sniff out or discover murders, and subsequently solve them for the local law enforcement.
When a plane runs out of gas and crashes into the town's historic gazebo, killing the pilot and Tricia's best friend, Deborah during Stoneham's Founder's Day celebration, Tricia doesn't buy that it is an accident, and begins digging into clues. Along the way, she discovers how little she really knew Deborah. In the wake of her death, secrets about her marriage and her child start to surface, and there is much anger directed toward Deborah's remaining family, her mom and her son Davey, as well as theft and vandalism toward her store, The Happy Domestic.
When Nigella Racita and Associates sweeps in to purchase The Happy Domestic from Deborah's husband, at above market value, Tricia starts to get really suspicious and starts stepping on toes when she reaches out to the pilot's widow and others in the community, asking pointed questions. Will Tricia go to far and put her life in danger? In the end, the pieces come together, with a bit of a surprise ended. In small towns, you will be amazed by who is connected to whom.
This is a great series, and I can't wait for the next one!
