As a book about growing up is also not very good. You look at a life of a bunch of kids through very strong focused lens. Practically nothing else exists but their daily activities which are mostly dull and their relations which are devoid of any strong emotions. Everyone loves and cares for each other, feels obligations, never wants anything for themselves. No envy, ambition or teenage rebellion. The whole book is filled with a sense of lost, serene sadness and subdued despair. It feels like watching it though a thick glass in slow motion. It reminds me of some Japanese anime movies where you watch people standing for 2 minutes doing absolutely nothing and not noticing their surroundings.
Yet I read this book in 3 days and every time I had to put it down I felt a strange pull towards it.
Those pages describe a space battle and feels like a very young person wrote them without reading anything close to science-fiction before.
I read a lot of military sci-fi, I am usually lax on science related errors, but this is nowhere close acceptable.
I would recommend this book to anyone who likes to read this genre, very empowering for the feminine readers. Can't wait to read next book in this series.
