First, they slid it out of my closet and attempted to pry it open with a screwdriver, which thankfully, the screwdriver lost. They then attempted using spoons and other kitchen utensils which also failed. At this point, they physically carried the safe into the basement which is the first flaw - this safe is light enough to be moved by a single adult male with no tools.
Ultimately, the intruder did manage to get this safe open, though I am not sure what tools they ultimately ended up using. The front of the safe was badly dented, and the front door was bent outwards. The interior white plastic had scrapes and scuffs, so it's clear to me that the door was PRYED open, versus some other cutting tool.
Once open, the intruder was able to steal thousands of dollars of precious metals, as well as cash, and some sentimental items with immense personal value.
Was I expecting Fort Knox when I bought this? No. It's sold and marketed first and foremost as a fire safe. However, I did have the expectation that it couldn't simply be pried open with the kind of force a human being can manage with his arms and a crowbar. Unfortunately, this assumption has cost me thousands upon thousands of dollars. Hopefully, nobody else loses because nobody's taken time to review this product.
