Two override keys that will open the safe without use of the passcode are also included, so you're ensured access to your valuables even if you forget your code or if the batteries in the keypad run out.
Dependable, Practical Construction to Guard Your Valuables
Featuring an electronic lock with override key, a hardened steel lock plate to protect from drill attempts, two solid steel live-locking bolts, a solid steel pry-resistant body, and a solid steel pry-resistant door with concealed hinges, the SentrySafe X055 Security Safe is crafted to provide years of dependable service.
To protect your jewelry or other delicate items against scratches and other damage, the X055 has a soft carpeted floor. A durable black finish on the safe's exterior offers a handsome look and many years of maintenance-free use.

I originally purchased the Honeywell 0.6 Cubic Foot safe, but returned it because the locking mechanism was junk. The Sentry is more expensive, but much better constructed and looks nicer, too. Also, unlike the Honeywell, you don't need to use a key in addition to the combination lock when you open the safe. Just enter your combination and turn the latch. There is an emergency override key that only needs to be used if the batteries go dead. The safe is pre-drilled so it can be bolted from the bottom or back (or both). Due to its small size and light weight, this safe should definitely be bolted to something -- it would be way too easy for someone to carry off.
As mentioned in another review, it may sometimes be difficult to pull open the relatively heavy door because of the small & slippery surface area of the knob. I cut a couple of small pieces of velcro tape (the rougher of the two strips) and stuck them on the sides of the knob, which allows me to grip it much easier.
4-Year Update: I access this safe every day, have changed the combination several times, changed batteries a few times, and have never had a problem with it.
Selecting the Sentry Safe X105 met our needs. The safe is large enough to handle a projo and laptop along with accessories. It can be unlocked and left that way so that the conference personnel can restore and secure the items they've checked out without having to have the combination.
Lots of good ways to secure this safe including a nice hidden cable system. There are mounting holes in the bottom that we used to anchor it down to the bottom sturdy shelf of a counter cabinet. So the vault is not only anchored well, it is also out-of-sight inside of a storage cabinet.
Nicely made device - better than expected - and good value too.
I fixed it by glueing a 3/4 inch round magnet on the lock bar just above the electric solenoid, half off over the bar to the solenoid. You may have to try different magnets to get the right strength, but the first one I tried worked, so maybe not so critical. The magnet keeps the solenoid bar from falling so easily. But, a large hammer may still be a problem, didn't try.
Sentry, modify the design.
I was undecided on whether to select the SentrySafe X055 Security Safe or the Stack-On PS-514 Personal Safe with Electronic Lock and chose the SentrySafe because YouTube is LOADED with quick, easy ways to break into the Stack-on PS-514. More than likely, most of the same techniques are also easily applied to the SentrySafe, but I just went with the one that was less visible on YouTube. There was also a small price difference in favor of the SentrySafe. I did like Stack-on's time-out period that goes into effect after three failed entry attempts using the passcode, but with the modifications I describe below it is less important.
Here is my recommendation to **REALLY** secure the safe:
1. Bolt this baby to the floor! If you are burgled and this isn't bolted down, the burglers will not waste their time trying to crack the safe, they are just going to take it with them!
2. This should be common sense, but do not make the passcode your birthday or your anniversary, or anything else so painfully obvious and easy to look up.
3. Here is my modification: I added a ...Read more ›
