it's a good guide to help get through depression, to look for support groups, and really manage a family. I think this book should be read by soldiers and their spouses alike.
I loved that I could relate to some of the situations and read what others may have done to help them through - counting my husband's 2 or 3 month trips away from home for training/schooling as prep for deployment.
Because he knows it's important to me & for us to prepare, I even read several chapters WITH my spouse and we were able to discuss the topics that he usually dislikes speaking about. This book has helped us communicate to each other our fears and given us ideas on how to prepare "together" for the year ahead.
There are other books along the same lines as this one that I may purchase.
If you're like me, a person who doesn't want to spend precious time trolling the internet for sources and stories on how a spouses handle deployments, then you might enjoy it.
HOWEVER, I was so pleasantly surprised!
This book is AWESOME!! This book contains SO MUCH necessary information from what it is like and how to prepare pre-deployment, what goes on during deployment, how the kids handle things, if an affair occurs, how to handle finances, what to do if your soldier is wounded or killed....
It covers everything!! It is so informative and well-written. There are TONS of resources listed in this book as well. I recommend this book to all military families!
