A wonderful surprise for Serena lovers! This film, which chronicles the year in which Serena almost attained, but ultimately lost, the rare Grand Slam in tennis, provides a remarkably intimate encounter with this exceptional woman as she traverses the pressure-laden landscape of almost impossible excellence, and expectations. What I learned pertained to the grit and grace with which Serena lives her life. And the extent to which she suffers in the service of her sport. Love seems to get her through. Literally.

This well done documentary conceptualizes all those superlative traits like perseverant, disciplined, goal-driven, unrelenting, wildly talented and successful, that define Serena Williams, as it follows her 2015 pursuit of that year's 4 Grand Slam Tournaments. But it's also a frank representation of the very human and vulnerable aspects of Serena -- her warm connection to her family, the staff that supports her, and her little yorkie Chip; her goal to both galvanize her anger to motivate her on the court and reign it in to allow forgiveness; her brave return to a fearful setting, where she was once mass-booed; her seeking acceptance, while fending off rejection; her letting loose with a few song and dance breaks. Aspiring to give up grudges is a lesson learned from Mandela. The kid in her sometimes holds a stuffed animal and watches "The Little Mermaid" to chill. But she's clearly a fierce competitor who hates to lose. The film is well executed in all disciplines, the accompanying music exhilarating. An important study in striving, winning, pausing at loss, accepting, and powering through .

Wonderful documentary. It is hard not to admire both the quality of her play and the straightforwardness of her personality. She has overcome so many different types of adversity. I hope her defeat at the 2015 US Open to a relatively minor player will prove a mere parenthesis to an illustrious closing of her career. Her reading of that Maya Angelou poem at the end was a fitting reminder of all she has achieved to date and all the promise she is still to unfold. 5 stars

Beautifully filmed. I Love that this showed Serena's softness and her steel core. Her perseverance is amazing. Her integrity and her going back to the same venue where she was called the 'n' word shows a constitution I certainly don't have. Great film.

fabulous documentary on an extremely talented athlete. It was great to learn about a mature, humble, joyful athlete that has accomplished amazing feats in tennis. It showed you dedication, life surrounded by determination, focus and skill and how Serena balances that with her family and interests outside of sports. It was great to see a documentary on Serena that honored her skill and focus as an athlete and on the side, addressed that challenges of her gender and race. All of it makes up who she is, a true champion for all.

I really, really enjoyed this. I truly admire Serena and her sister for what they have endured in a sport that did not exactly accept them. It took alot for her to expose herself this way, very real and very true. Might watch it again and I will recommend this for sure to my friends. Thank you for having it available to watch and enjoy.

I have been following Serena, and Venus, before they left CA. For FL. A lot of the film I knew but it was nice to hear and see her interacting with family and coaches. I was amazed at the amount of time and care it takes to be a top players. Being a top player at the age where most in her sport have retired shows Serena enjoys her job.
