Product Description

Two years in the making, The Complete and Official Map of the Verse is the first comprehensive guide to the worlds of Joss Whedon's Firefly and Serenity. The map - which is available in a Z-folded packet for easy reference or rolled for framing and display - measures 25 x 38 inches and documents the location, relative sizes and names of the 215 terraformed worlds and moons, seven gas giants, seven protostars and five distinct star systems that comprise the star cluster known as The Verse. Literally thousand of pieces of information are contained in this stunningly beautiful design by Serenity Graphic Designer Geoffrey Mandel. It is as much a work of art as it is a visual guide of unparalleled detail. So much detail, in fact, the Map encompasses both sides of the 65 lbs heavy cover stock paper it's printed on.

This map is great. I really felt stupid paying $30 for a map of a fictional place, but I was going to run a Firefly role playing game based off a Star Wars system and I needed a good clear map of the Verse to do it. This is marvelous. It has tons of details. A couple of things I wish it had are travel times. I'd love to know how long it takes to get from Persphone to Osiris, but I know Joss Whedon was pretty vague on this, so I can't blame the makers of the map. I'd also love to have populations for each of the planets and moons. My players keep asking and I just have to make up numbers. Again, Joss Whedon never gave the information so I don't blame them for not having it. It does have population information on the whole verse and each of the 5 stars.

This poster is made of very thick high quality paper (I'd guess approximately 67lb. cover stock). I was very impressed when I opened the package and found what quality the paper is. One side shows the verse in overview. It shows the 5 stars, all protostars, and the planets and their orbits, but no moons. There is a grid overlay that gives some idea of distance, but it's at an awkward angle and too large to be much use. The other side shows the relative size of all the suns, protostars, planets, and moons. It includes Sol, Earth-that-was, and Luna for reference. The grouping makes it clear which moons orbit which planets. Both sides use color coded text to indicate which planets/moons are inhabited, uninhabitable, or restricted, etc. I've done a lot of research on the inhabited planets and moons for the game, and I've found 1 moon is missing. In the episode Out of Gas, the captain of salvage ship that comes to "help" Mal, says he is coming from Ita, a moon of Whittier. Whittier is on the map, but there is no Ita.

I bought his as a gift but I took a peak at it first. It is on nice thick almost card stock paper and is double-sided. It says folded in the title and it does has the creases for folding but came rolled like any other poster. Great for any firefly fan!

I run a Serenity campaign and this map is a win for me. Very beautiful! I've put it in a double sided glass frame so I can see it protected and displayed. Very nicely made!

Beautifully done. This poster shows the complex system known to Firefly fans everywhere (referred to as Browncoats) known as the 'Verse.

Great, colorful, detailed map of the star cluster that makes up the Serenity/Firefly " 'verse". Only problem is, you'll want to see both sides at once, so you may have to order two of them. : )
