The Firefly/Serenity universe continues to expand in the second issue of “Leaves on the Wind.” Fans of the short-lived “Firefly” tv series and the “Serenity” movie will enjoy this comic though readers who haven’t seen either will be lost. Zack Whedon continues to do well with his brother Joss’ characters and creations though this is a comic that focuses more on character development than action. That’s not to say the plot is slow but it is gradually building as the story continues. Some of the characters (Jayne, Zoe) get more of the spotlight in this issue than others (Simon, Kaylie, Inara). The art team led by Georges Jeanty does a fine job of making this universe come alive. There are nice little touches in both the script and the art that will catch long-time fans’ attention. Having said that, as enjoyable as this comic is, newcomers will be lost. Still, I cheerfully recommend this series to fans so far based on the first two issues.

The story and action finally picks up in this second installment. Jayne comes back to the gang, although isn't welcomed as warmly as you would want. Something bad happens to Zoe and were left without knowing what is really going to happen to her. The only problem I have with this comic is the fact that the cover doesn't really match with the story. Maybe it's foreshadowing but I don't think it fits with this installment. I'm just so glad the story after the movie is continuing, I can't give it anything less than 5 stars!

They're doing it right, and staying true to the original oh-too-short-lived storyline. Oddly, it shipped, got cancelled for non-delivery, and re-shipped (after I had to re-order it) with an alternate cover -- nice cover art, but the alternate cover sort of gave the story away (even though we knew he was coming Early). I surely hope those that intercepted the original delivery enjoyed reading this as much as we are.

It's real shiny, just wish I didn't have to wait until next month! If you don't know what's going on buy the DVDs and watch them then read it!
