I had previously read some of the other books.
Since then I have started reading them in order.
If you like science fiction adventure novels you will the series. They are stand alone stories, but are all tied together by reference to the other stories.
To date, I have read 12 of them.
Unfortunately, the 1st one was the worst of the group. It was very slow developing. It took me over a week to read. The other books have a lot more action. They range around 450 pages.
I have read about 2 a week.
I recommend the series, but if you have to skip one, Serpent is the one.
Sad to see a great author hang it up.
Regards, Daniel Hudson.

I've always loved the way Cussler starts with an actual historic event, this time the mysterious collision that sank the Andrea Doria, and builds a multi layer story around that. I always spend the first few chapters trying to guess how he will merge past and present, fact and fiction.
My only real criticism of Serpent is that it was great until the very last chapters, then everything got abruptly and neatly wrapped up, like a 1970s american cop show! Not how I remember Clive's books being, that said I will grab a few more I've not read from the kindle store soon!
Another book from the pen of a master storyteller. The Mayan Adventure or who really discovered America! Our team of heroes from NUMA tackle a megalomaniac who wants to form his own country. This is the second time I have read this story but I still couldn't put it down.
