I was going to give this 4 1/2 Stars, but then decided what the heck, let's go with 5. Continues Half-breed Rik's journey well, with learning more about his heritage, new bad guys and monsters to fight, and more intrigue with his so-called allies who often act more like enemies! I'm not big on 'series' type stories any more but I liked the first (free) book enough to buy this one, and now I'm committed so I'm ordering number 3 to see what happens next.

Like Book 1, this one can be considered a complete story without going on, though I'm too into the story to want to stop. I want to see if Rik succeeds in learning magic, but I also want to read more of his friends, Weasel and The Barbarian. The story just wouldn't be the same with out them and the troubles they get into. Plus, I think Rik owes a little 'payback' to the two Terrarchs who sicced a monster on him! I hope King can keep the good story going. (I only wish he'd change the cover pictures. They still make me think more "American Revolution" than "sword and sorcery.")

I highly recommend this one, but you should definitely read Book 1 first.

The author continues the troubles with Rena, Halfbreed, and the Lieutenant. Which really needs to be resolved. I don't really like that hanging over the story like a ticking time bomb.

Other than that this was an excellent sequel. Lots of action and adventure. With some company and army maneuvers thrown in on the top to spice things up.

Halfbreed finds out about his heritage and its not exactly what you think. The old sorcerer woman continues to stir the pot and hand out promises she's yet to deliver on and threats which no one believes she won't follow through on if pressed.

Lots of fun.

This book, like the other ones in the series, isn't great but it's enjoyable, which I suppose is the most important thing. Like the previous book, I liked this one enough to get the next in the series, but I probably won't reread them.

I loved the whole series and definitely recommend it. William King paces the growth of the main character nicely through the series. The first book started in a way that made me wonder if I would like it, but by the time I hit the halfway point I was hooked. Each additional book just got better. King develops the main character in a way that reminded me of the Night Angel Trilogy.

William King is creating a new world with this series and he pulled it off. I hope he starts to write additional series in this world. I had read a number of his Warhammer books previously and was not disappointed with his new work.

Very good, but lacks the polish and depth of the WHF world and the Gotrek novels. Some overlap between the two can be inferred but it seems like another pass of review would have helped. Well, worth the read though.

This second book in the series did a good job of continuing the story and the characters and showed some change happening to one of the main characters. The plot became a bit outlandish, but it fits the spirit of the story. It was enjoyable reading and certainly propelled me to read Volume 3.

This book was more exciting and suspenseful. The story lines are getting more in depth and detailed. The characters are so familiar to me now...I like that. I'm really looking forward to books three and four. I can't wait to see how everything turns out.

I have gone through everything written on the Terrach Chronicles. William King is a very entertaining writer. I read prolifically and am a bit on the picky side. This story in all its books kept my interest. I sincerely hope Rik will have many more adventures I can read about. Good job Mr. King and give Rik a few more adventures please.
