Maya and two of her friends got together and decided to serve up some revenge, or at the very least, get some closure, on men who had wronged them. Maya wants vengeance (light) on Dex, the sweet but nerdy guy who blackmailed her into going to prom with him years ago. Now 12 years later, Dex is all grown up and has once again blackmailed her for a date, a series of dates actually. He's not a nerdy geek any longer, though, no, he's a hot muscular photographer and Maya has plans for the blackmailer that involve lots of steam between the sheets. After all, that's all men are good for as far as Maya is concerned, even the sweet ones like Dex.
I wanted to love Served Hot - the premise sounded exciting, and a good revenge tale is always my thing, if done right. Here, though, the revenge is very light, almost nonexistent, and I didn't really feel the intensity between Dex and Maya. I felt bad for Maya once I found out why she is so guarded and downright mean, and I adored Dex, but I just couldn't help but feel let down by Served Hot. Yes, it was pretty hot, but the emotional connection was lacking for me, and I never warmed up to Maya, even after I found out what had made her so prickly.
I do like that Maya is biracial (half Native American) and that it was a focal point in forming Maya's insecurities, and I felt for her badly. Racism is a touchy subject at best, and here in Served Hot, it was dealt with in a fairly deft manner. I just wish Maya hadn't been quite so guarded, because in coupling her with such an overtly sweet guy like Dex, it was hard for me to see them lasting because she was so emotionally distant about everything.
Still, Served Hot is set in an interesting world, what with the three friends and the men they want vengeance on, and I'm looking forward to Anson and Riley's story, Served Sweet, and Ann and Jack's tale, Served Cold.

We do see Anson and Riley, along with Jack and Ann again in this book in social settings. Maya was a real tough character to like in the first book, but solo she was much better. Dexter is a dream. Just a dream. He has some kind of demeanor that just makes you like him right off the bat. He's kind, good head on his shoulders and hot as hell. The steamy scenes and there were plenty of them were better written too.
**arc from NetGalley and Entangled in exchange for a fair review**
This second book is every bit as good as the first one. They could read as standalones, but personally I think they are best read in order.
Now on to Riley's story!!!

Served Hot is the second title in the Best Revenge series.
Maya hides a vulnerability and abandonment issues behind a brash, feisty, confrontational, touch exterior.
Dex is a sweet, kind, fun and determined man, who knows what he wants and isn't afraid to go after it. A former geek, and marine, who grew into his rock hard, sexy body.
This pair are entertaining, their banter is antagonistic, flirtatious, argumentative, fun and full of wit and playful humor.
Overall this is a steamy, passionate, sensual and erotic romance with flawed, yet engaging characters.
This time it's Maya and Dex's turn to take centre stage, in high school when just skinny nerd Dec blackmailed Maya into going to the prom with him and although she'd never admit it she had a really good time. Dec has now returned to his home town, tall handsome and totally hot, determined to have a future with Maya he resorts to blackmailing her again, their relationship develops despite Maya's abandonment issues.
Very funny at times and yet another good read from this author.
My thanks to net galley and publisher for opportunity to review this book honestly.
