SJS has started a new series, but it still has the armed services theme. Noah, the hero comes back from serving abroad with issues. Josie is also back from Portland jobless, without a degree & depressed after burying her newborn son. They reconnect & the sparks fly.
Josie isn't usually the type of heroine I warm up to. Her life is pretty much a shambles due to the poor choices she makes. Noah is a hero who would like to save her, but she ends up saving herself. She redeems herself IMO. All in all a good story.
I wish I would have known the prequel was included in this book for free - "Running Wild". I bought it not realizing that fact. Save yourself some money.
This is book one in the Second Shot series and it features Noah Tager and Josie Fairmore. WHAT A LOVE STORY! Poor Josie. I was so sad for her loss. She didn't deserve the title given to her by the whole town. I loved Noah but at the same time I was irritated with him through a lot of the story. I realize he was suffering in his own way but he didn't man-up until he really had no choice.
Regardless of anything I didn't like, this was a fantastic story line with amazing characters. I can't wait to read more of this series.
Josie is back now after five years and Noah looks the same but he has changed. He begrudgingly gives her a job. Noah knows he is going to have a hard time keeping his hands and heart to himself. Josie is also determined to keep her heart safe. They go through so much apart and together. There are tears but they will keep you so engrossed in this book you won't be able to put it down until you have read the last word. This was a really good story.
An excellent book and one I highly recommend.
