Sesame Street: Christmas Eve on Sesame Street (DVD)
It's Christmas Eve on Sesame Street, and everyone is joining in the excitement - until a question from Oscar throws Big Bird into a tailspin. "How does a guy like Santa Claus, who's built like a dump truck, come down all those skinny little chimneys?" Oscar asks. Suddenly Big Bird is worried that if he can't answer the question, there won't be any presents on Christmas! With the help of all his Sesame Street friends, Big Bird attempts to solve the mystery. But in the process, he discovers that the true miracle of Christmas isn't the presents under the tree, but the spirit of loving and sharing.]]>

If I could, I'd add a 6th star because this has a meaningful touch of beneficial content that goes beyond the typical fare of "Christmas is the time for giving and caring". Thematically, there's a nice touch in this special that presents a healthy role model, of another adult telling the Jewish shopkeeper Mr. Hooper "Happy Hanukkah" and Mr. Hooper responding back with a "Merry Christmas". They respect each other even though they're of different religions, because they have the same values about morality. That is the kind of thoughtful content that more programs, for ALL ages, need to have.
I love Kermit and grover's interviews with the kids. So funny and cute. There's things here and there that might not be considered appropriate anymore (Oscar uses some language I don't want my 3 year old using but them again it's Oscar...) but overall not bad for Sesame Street fans or those looking to relive a moment from their childhoods.
Yay! Reminds me of the good old days....Ernie, Burt, Cookie Monster, Big Bird, The Count, Oscar the Grouch are all here as well as Bob, David, Maria (no Luis though), Susan, Gordon, Linda, Olivia are all here and we just love it! Plot summary, amidst songs and skating Oscar poses the question to Big Bird that if he can't figure out how Santa gets through the skinny chimneys, no one will get gifts which turns Big Bird into a nervous wreck trying to find out how it all happens...In the end, all is well folks; don't worry....Merry Christmas and Happy Chanukah, Mr. Hooper! (something that Bob says to Mr. Hooper in the show) back when it was ok to say both!
