There are three different concepts for each card. The idea of "phases", different hands, different goals, etc., is hard enough for my kiddo (she's 6), so having cards which have three different meanings really doesn't work for her. She loses interest after the first phase. I made a "cheat sheet" with pictures for the real Phase 10 game, and changed it to a Phase "5". That works better.
But the pics are cute, so for a younger kid, they could probably figure out something to play with the cards. Although I doubt it would resemble the instructions much.

Fun game to have on hand in your purse for those times you're waiting around at a restaurant or have a few minutes. My 2 1/2 year old loves this game. Teaches some shapes, colors and numbers.

Wanting to introduce the concept of Phase 10 to my 1st grader, I took a chance and bought this. For some reason he is able to beat me most games. I'm a good Phase 10 player, but the thinking, or organizing, or SOMETHING makes it easier for him than for me. I have tested this on other adults, and we all have the same problem. Easy for little hands, only four cards to hold, frustrating for adults, gleeful for children.
