Randi was a star player and after she retires from playing volleyball she moves back to her hometown to coach the team she once played for with the hopes of taking them to state. She has to deal with her father who pushed her hard when she was a player and is doing the same now that she is a coach; has to deal with teachers and the principal who think her personal life is something that they can have a say in, AND has the rival coach who just happens to be completely gorgeous and interested in her.
Blake is that guy who all the females flirt with. He figures he can get into Randi's head and throw her off of her game but never thought he would start to develop feelings for the rival coach who keeps blocking him.
This is my second time reading this book. It is sweet, there are obstacles that need to be overcome and this isn't some "everything was so easy and they were in love the moment they laid eyes on each other" story. This is a story that I think many can relate to even if you are not from a small town.
So, get your copy today because you will enjoy it.
And what kind of girl goes for a guy who knowingly pursued a married woman?! That's exactly what Blake has been doing and it isn't him who ended that relationship, it's the married woman. I don't think I ever really got over that where Blake is concerned. :(
I did like how Randi and Blake's relationship evolved. I enjoyed their interactions and I especially like it when it was them working together against all the nay-sayers. The relationship between Randi and her almost step sister was endearing. Randi works hard at being a good coach. Her reputation mattered and I'm glad she didn't just dismiss that.
While there aren't any sex scenes, sex is mentioned and there are definite sexual overtones.
