Alexandra is a very beautiful young woman, recovering emotionally from having dated and been in love with a young man named Lancer. She assumes they would marry one day but suddenly he broke off seeing her and she is still suffering from that rejection. Avalon is so attentive to her, overwhelms her with beautiful clothing and jewels that she tries not to think about Lancer.
Avalon's intentions quickly become confusing as chemistry grows between the two. When she is sleeping at night, he visits her in her dream and kisses and holds her. She responds, wanting him to make love to her, but he will not since she is not conscious. This leaves her puzzled and sexually desiring him and he uses all of his will power to only see her in this dream state until she approaches him on the physical plane. The Duke of Avalon has lived a long and lonely life. He has chased his love through the centuries. Unknown to Alexandria, he is not a normal human. Alexandra is determined that he will not boss her, although she is receptive to his romantic approaches. The Duke of Avalon has plans for Alexandria York, although she doesn't know it. One minute she is loving him and then she feels he is manipulating her because of his moody attitudes, mysterious demeanor, and overall just mysterious being that he seems to be. There are several twists to the story that are unanswered and mysterious that the reader discovers at the end of the novel. This is an intensely romantic novel with the paranormal and mystique thrown in. This story does end abruptly in a cliffhanger because there is a second novel to come out this year.
I enjoyed every minute of this book, lived every sensation of Alexandra and at times, even Avalon, and I highly recommend it for those readers who enjoy this type of genre. I was given a complimentary e-copy for an honest review
Alexandria York is an artist who, while on horseback with her best friend, finds herself on the property of the Duke of Avalon. There have been many stories and rumors about the mysterious man, and while Allie's curiosity is more than piqued, there is another mysterious man she seeks to gain the identity of. He invades her dreams but she willingly lets him in, welcoming him in a way that she's never welcomed any other man when she's awake. The man who occupies her thoughts when she's awake, leaves her confused. Why does he show such an intense interest in her? Why does he switch from showing he cares to pushing her away abruptly? And as if these two mysterious men are not enough, the return of the only man she has ever given her heart to--Lancer Rivers--returns, and both the Duke's and Allie's fates hang in the balance.
At the crux of this story is the secret that Avalon is hiding from Allie and it's a secret that we become privy to (ah, the perks of being a reader!) early on. Now, I won't go into too much detail but even without everything I said in the first paragraph, there are enough clues and hints as to how this book connects to one particular legend. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and loved how creative it was. While other authors put a modern twist to classic fairy tales, Kylie C. Stewart has taken things up a notch by adding mystery to what some believe is lore but many believe to be true and adding a modern touch to it. The story keeps you on your toes, and while it does end on a cliffhanger (gah!), you'll be invested into what happens with Avalon and Allie and how choices here will affect the rest of their story. 4.5 stars for Legend: Set in Stone.
This is a tale as old as time and with a twist. I love how just when you think you know what is going to happen next. The story takes you a whole new direction. Alexandria has a big choice to make. Only she does not know it yet. When she unveils her lates creation at the art show, it is truly something special. So much so that the Duke of Avalon has to have it, and he wants her too. As she works to create a tuly wonderful pice of work, she is trying to figure out Avalon and her dreamtime visitor. Things start getting strange when the dream man tells her his name. it helps you start putting things together. This book will end and leave you screaming for the next. So if the 2nd book is out when you read this. I advise you get it to.
Now before I ruin this for you I will leave off here. I hope you enjoy this book as much as I did. If you do like this book, please consider leaving a review. The Authors really like it when you do; they value your opinions too.
