Evil wears many faces in this chaotic world of ours.
It often lives in the limelight, perhaps in the guise of a cold-blooded, haughty actress. At other times it can be less obvious, taking the form of a lustful old man, or his shallow, manipulative paramour. It is unnervingly close to us, evil, maybe even next door, where the neighbor is always drunk and his wife often sports a black eye.
And sometimes—just sometimes—the façade of our daily existence is lifted, and the Devil himself makes an appearance …
It would be wise to read these tales with the lights on.

About the author

Virginia Wallace is a native of the Chesapeake Bay region, on the Southeast coast of the United States. Nomadic by nature, Virginia has lived all over, from the mountains of New England to the rolling hills of the American Heartland.
She began her creative career during her late teens and early twenties, working as a freelance portrait and commercial artist. She slowly transitioned into writing, eventually self-publishing three novels for the ‘indie’ book market.
As a writer, Virginia Wallace has always worked at meshing modern stories with a lush style reminiscent of 19th-Century American and European literature. Her novel ‘When the White Knight Falls’ marks her debut into the mainstream book market.

First of all, The People of Lie was going so smoothly and it was as if I was there with Sadie and Bobby sipping on the good stuff until unexpectedly like gullible Bobby, I got chills and the shock of it all made me reread the previous chapter because I thought I missed a sign but besides the curt answers from Sadie, there wasn't much of a clue to figure the outcome! It goes to show just how far people we idolize will go to keeping up the appearance. Talk about scary good!
As for Paramour, a social climber meeting her equal in terms of conning and it had me questioning my own reality there for a second lol damn that was chilly and imaginative.
Sam was oddly weird yet quite fascinating even though I was quite lost at first but a little quick reread and I grasped what Samhnach represented and I dare say the hubby deserved what he got.
The Day Punkin Blew Up the Devil was an inspiration to not only young Gerald but it also resonated with me as a reader. The courage and strength Punkin stood for is nothing to scoff at and it goes to show you that standing by your beliefs and truth even when the world laughs at you is a testament to one's character.
Overall, Seven Forbid is a charming little cut of enjoyment and the quotes at the start of each story were a bonus but my favorite is the first - “Because Seven Forbid he should ever be dragged into the light.” Though it may very well not be a quote, I love it either way.
The 4 short stories are very well written and makes you realize the bad out in the world. Each story had parts that’s one could see happening out in the real world. It is also a lesson that reminds you to be good and true to yourself.
I would recommend reading these!!
