I will be reading it over again.
I really liked Syntyche right down to her quirky nickname of Turkey. She’s smart, inquisitive and a tad funny with a touch of bravery to even things out. The plethora of secondary characters are just as endearing. By the end of the story I was definitely wishing I had a dad like Parks. This is one extended family you will wish you were a part of. This is an adventure where the race is on to close the gates of hell and to protect the coming prophet. Getting there will have you laughing, perhaps a bit angry and maybe with a few tears along the way.
While the story led to a definite end to this adventure, it left just enough open to lead to more in a series. The romantic in me is definitely ready to hear what adventures Turkey will be in for when she hits 16 and the serious courting begins. So if you like an adventure with lots of mystery, puzzle solving and action not to mention angels, demons, a gryphon, a phoenix and a dragon you’re looking in the right direction. Perhaps the one negative to this story however is that it could have used one final edit. Poor word choices at times had a habit of taking me out of the story. A thorough read through and a few corrections would have definitely been welcoming. In spite of this the world building and story were excellent and I would definitely recommend it. Let me start off this review by stating Seven of I: The Keeper of the Words is 500+ pages long so if you're looking for a fast read, this isn't the book for you. Also, if you are seeking out a story that doesn't require you to really pay close attention to details, again you might want to pass on this.
Seven of I: The Keeper of the Words had so much going on, so much information to absorb, that I was tempted to take notes. I'm sure readers will be wishing for a cliff note version.
Between comprehending the prophecy, the various angels (the hierarchy of the angels), and the creatures that arise...... Not going to lie, it's a lot to retain. Good thing I have a mighty good memory. :)
On the positive, Valerie imagination knew no bounds. Her visions, descriptions of the angels and beasts were very detailed and creative. Ex. dog-aroo: big black hair mutant kangaroo dog on steroids. See what I mean? Inventive.
On a final note, this book did not end with the final page. Yup, you'll have to wait for part 2 to see what happens next.
Starting off I felt like the narrator was all over the place, It took me about 200 pages to really get into it and get a real feel for the characters. It was really hard at first. A lot of times I will stop reading a book if I it doesn't grasp me from the beginning. However, I pushed through it and once it started going I was thankful that I hadn't given up on this book. Very unique post- apocalyptic adventurous story. One thing I would like to mention was that the author kept reminding the readers how to pronounce the main characters name. Kudos for that there's nothing worse than reading a book and not really knowing the name of the characters. I am really looking forward to reading more from this author and in this particular world she created..
