One of the things I don't like is the use of substitute swear words. It's something we did as kids before sniggering behind the adults back. If characters curse then thurking hell let them do it properly. (Yes thurk is one of the words). Unfortunately it's fairly prevalent so it's hard to ignore.
It seemed to meander at times where I nearly lost interest but the story unfolds in a pleasantly surprising way. From what seemed at first a standard quest where a bunch of heroes have to kill an evil adversary it is actually quite something else. This is what makes this ultimately an interesting book and I will be reading the next.

Did I like it, yes a bit. Was it worth reading. yes up to a point. Do I want to progress with the second book, yes but only at a good price or free of charge.
Why is this?
Well it's written well, but the theme of the story is just not good enough. However, the author has a style of writing that is good. So maybe with a different story who knows.

I love this authors tales, I realise that in an ideal world this is the first book to read, probably followed by Crimson Hunters as I think that is the next cycle - Spark City appears to be earlier than both so not really sure what to make of that as it is developing in parallel with the the Crimson Hunters - hey, who cares they are fabulous stories :-)
