Seventh Generation Bathroom Tissue, 2-ply White Unscented, Case Pack (48-400 Sheet Rolls)
The 400 sheet variety is not only great for the environment (80% post consumer recycled/ whitened without chlorine bleach) but also soft and comfortable. Amazon currently lists it as 'unavailable'. To encourage Amazon to carry the more comfortable one, add that one to your wish list. Or once it is available, purchase the 400 sheet one instead.
The 500 sheet variety will remind you of being in a gas station restroom. If you end up buying this in bulk, you'll find yourself secretly buying traditional toilet paper to pull out of the cabinet when you have guests...
In this case, the bathroom tissue is made with 100% recycled materials and is whitened without using bleach. Using recycled products not only saves trees but reduces land fill.
As for the comfort and utility of this product it is a quality toilet tissue that is reasonably soft and absorbent. So if we can be comfortable, hygenic and eco-friendly, why not?
This bath tissue is made of completely recycled paper--80% of which is post consumer material! Great! All this DOES reduce pollution, just as they advertise on the wrapping of the roll of toilet paper. The wrapping is great and the bath tissue is whitened without using bleach. I am very impressed. Predictably, this bath tissue is not just kinder to Mother Nature; it's easier on those of us who are sensitive to scents. It is hypoallergenic; and it is perfectly safe for toilet and septic systems just as Amazon notes above. Of course, there's always a limit to how much paper will go in one single flush down the toilet; but most people have an intuitive sense about this so it shouldn't be a problem.
Of course, bath tissue never "goes stale," so if you catch a sale on this product stock up on it! The rolls can be stored in the package they come in; or you can store the rolls individually in various places throughout your home where they will be needed.
Actually, there are some concerns. Seventh Generation bath tissue is comparatively expensive to most other brands of bath tissue. People on a budget may simply not be able to afford this product. Moreover, some people will protest the feel of this paper since, as I wrote above, it's not exactly Charmin soft. I'll take off one star for these two issues even though I personally like this very much. I know that in time Seventh Generation will figure out a way to make this product softer--and cheaper.
Overall, if you don't mind the texture and the price, this is excellent bath tissue. I myself recommend it highly.
I have used many seventh generation products for years and find their toilet paper to be the best of its kind. It is 2-ply which is very nice and it is made with 80% post-consumer materials!
- not packaged with plastic
- available in bulk
- chlorine free (chlorine is quite harmful to the environment)
- it's far from the super-soft tissues I grew up with
No, it's not super-soft. It's not uncomfortable though, and you will quickly get used to it. I bought the 1-ply by mistake last time though, and it was horrible. It was way too thin and is a hassle to use. Stick with the 2-ply.
The same subscription when sold by Amazon used to cost me only about $50 through subscribe and save. For some reason that subscription was discontinued and replaced by plastic-wrapped multi-packs of seventh gen tp.
It's confusing to see so many similar products available on amazon, and sometimes they list the price per "count", but not always, and the "count" is not always the same thing across products...
So, just looking at square footage:
- "Seventh Generation Bathroom Tissue, 2 Ply Sheets, 500 Count (Pack of 60 rolls (no plastic wrapping))" sold by Amazon and available through subscribe and save: The square footage per roll in this product is 52.6 square feet per roll x 60 rolls = 3,156 s.f. being sold for over $77.
- "Seventh Generation Bathroom Tissue, 2-ply, 300 Sheets, 12-Count (Pack of 4)" with 400 s.f. per 12-pack x 4 packs in a box (total of 48 rolls) = 1,600 s.f., and spend only about $31. If you doubled your order of this item, you'd get 3,200 s.f. for about $62. So this is the best deal I've found on Seventh Generation bath tissue on Amazon based on square footage. My main gripe is that I really don't want all the plastic wrap.
- The square footage for each of these rolls sold by "Natural Health" is 56.6 square feet per roll x 48 rolls = 2,717 s.f. being sold for over $100. So yeah, this is a pretty crappy deal.

I prefer these to other brands and types. The paper is thin and can be doubled, and it doesn't tear easily. The rolls tend to last longer than other "long lasting" rolls. Read morePublished 7 months ago by Mctundra

I really like the Seventh Generation Bathroom Tissue that is a 100 percent recycled product. Just wish the rolls were larger, it does tend to run out too soon. Read morePublished on February 1, 2014 by Susana D Huntoon
Okay, it is toilet paper. Every one uses it, every one buys it. So, why is a quality recycled product that isn't wrapped in plastic so difficult to find? Read morePublished on July 4, 2013 by Gwendolyn K. Crawford
OK, just to be clear and despite the unfortunate product name, it isn't that the toilet paper itself has been recycled, it's that the toilet paper is made from recycled paper. Read morePublished on March 13, 2013 by Bryan Thale
