I purchased this pencil and had mixed feelings about it when I received it. First thing to mention is I had a white doctors lab coat I was marking, with 3 tiny dots for alignment, and the black mark REFUSED to come out with water, soapy water or the eraser that came with the pencil. I had to resort to using a cleaner we use in the silk screen dept they use for cleaning ink off the screens. Also, BUY MORE PENCIL LEADS!!!!!!!! It came with a surprisingly small amount of lead in it. The leads are SUPER easy to break and take almost no force to snap. That being said, the marks it makes are clear and precise, due to the absolute tiny size of the leads. This does NOT work well for materials such as, knitted material as in cardigan sweaters or similar fabric. It also does not do well on soft, spongy material or material that has play or give in it. Sweatshirts it is hit or miss as to how well it works but worked well enough for me to see, albeit they were harder to see. The point is far too fine for materials of these nature. For things like denim, cotton and the like, it works well. Would I buy this again? Eh, perhaps, as it has a limited function in my daily use. If I need a tiny precise mark on a flat tight weaved material then I use it. Otherwise I use my regular pencils and marker pens.
For the average sewer it might be a good choice as you have dual colors to chose from and don't need to have several marking pencils or markers on hand. If you don't make your own patterns or use carbon paper then I suggest the other model they make that has 3 colors (white, black and pink), over this one. I don't use the metal tracing point myself and have no need of it.
If it were a bigger point, didn't break so easily and more easily removable then I would give it higher marks.
