In the decade since the first edition was published, Sexological researchers and clinicians have produced a flood of new understandings about matters pertaining to women's sexual lives. It is from atop these understandings that Foley, Kope and Sugrue share their vista, a fresh landscape that they skillfully integrate in and around the solid foundation of their original work.
Though there are lots of topics to cover, the book maintains a readable flow that is comprehensive without being overwhelming. Readers learn how threads of sexuality weave through all domains of life and living while the authors invite them to step into some of these domains by way of questions and step-by-step exercises. And if you find yourself extra curious about a particular subject, no worries--there are plenty of accessible and satisfying resources cited along the way.
This is an important book, important not only for women but for us men as well. It presents understandings that allow all of us to envision new possibilities for women, new options for women to create and lay claim to a wide array of identities, and new ways for women to experience their relationships both with themselves and with others. Reading this book, I find myself even more invigorated, inspired and grateful to travel the journeys I am invited to share with the women who consult with me for therapy. This is a very basic book. There is a very broad range of subjects, but not really a lot of depth on most of them. It's fine, just know what you are getting. Think of it as a one volume quick reference, just not the entire encyclopedia set. Still very useful!

This is a very basic book. There is a very broad range of subjects, but not really a lot of depth on most of them. It's fine, just know what you are getting. Think of it as a one volume quick reference, just not the entire encyclopedia set. Still very useful!
