The more books I read by this author the more I fall in love with her writing. Her stories and characters just keep getting better and better. This book was so good, all I can really say is that this is a MUST READ!!!
Vi has a canny ability to create stories that are intriguing, engaging, heartfelt and of course off the charts sexy. Her books will bring out all the feels. Sex, Not Love is no different. I was laughing at times, but then I was kicked in the gut and my eyes had tears in them. But in the end she always puts me back together and I have a HUGE smile on my face.
What I love the most about Vi’s books is that she gives a fun and entertaining story but also so much more. Her books have such depth to them, you never really know what you’re going to get until you start reading. She knows how to balance the light and happy with the dark and sad perfectly. Her books flow perfectly and I always think the same thing in the end….I want more!!!
Sex, Not Love is her latest standalone novel and it is told in Dual POV (Kind of, you’ll understand once you read the story). You don’t need to read any of her other books to fully enjoy this story. Although if Vi is a new author to you, once you read this book, you will definitely want to go back and read all of her other books as well!!
In this story we meet Natalia and Hunter. Nat and Hunter meet for the first time at their friends wedding. Hunter was immediately captivated by Natalia and her by him, but since she just came out of a bad situation and lives in New York….she isn’t looking for anything serious. Little did she know that saying No and giving him a wrong number wouldn’t deter Hunter. I loved this story and these characters so much. I don’t want to say too much, just know you will want to read this story and meet these characters.
I also loved the secondary characters we met in this book. Anna and Derek (Nat and Hunter’s friends) brought some of the lighter scenes to the story, but were also great supports to both Nat and Hunter. Izzy gave us a “real” feel to what it is like to raise a stepchild that is a teenager. I loved watching that child grow as the story unfolded.
Sex, Not Love is so much more than a great love story, this story is about healing and moving on. So if you are looking for that fun and entertaining story that also packs an emotional punch, then this is the book you should read. If you are a fan of Vi Keeland’s you don’t want to miss this newest addition to her fantastic collection. If she is a new author to you….pick up this gem, you won’t be sorry!!!!
Of course, YOU know that there is more to the two of them than a one-night stand. In Vi Keeland's world, it takes much longer for them to realize that.
I immediately liked Nat. She's as loyal and devoted a person as you will find, to the point that she drives her sullen teenage stepdaughter Izzy four hours (each way) once a month to an update New York prison so that the child can spend an hour with her jailed father (from whom Nat is divorced). She goes to weekly dinners with her mother and sisters, and she allows nothing to interfere with those. She provides emotional and physical support to Izzy despite the girl's apparent loathing of her. Keeland shows you these things so that you fully understand just how deeply Nat's delusion that she cannot love someone goes.
I also immediately liked Hunter. You can tell from the start that he's a good guy. Like Nat, he's devoted and loyal. He's eco-conscious, and he's the kind of guy who would drop anything to fly across the country to come to the aid of someone who needs him. As with Nat, Keeland shows you that Hunter is worth so much more than he believes.
This book packs an emotional punch, one made all the more powerful by the way Keeland builds her story. You care so completely about Nat and Hunter that you feel all the feels where they're concerned. And by "all the feels," I include the need to squeeze your thighs together so hard that you could snap a brick. The sexy times in this book are exquisitely delicious.
Nat and Hunter's story will make you smile, make you laugh, make you cry, and make you SWOON.
