SEX, PUBERTY, AND ALL THAT STUFF
A Guide to Growing Up
Feeling awkward...confused...maybe even a little self-conscious? Wondering why the whole world has gotten so weird? This book can help you through this awkward time by giving you lots of information about how your body physically changes as you grow from a child to an adult -- on the inside as well as on the outside. Some of these changes are the same whether you're a boy or a girl, and some are different. In both cases they are pretty dramatic.
In this book we'll cover:
- Crushes
- Kissing
- Body changes
- Sex
- Hormones
- Periods
- Dating
- and a whole lot more!
Excerpts from the book
When does puberty start?
Puberty can happen at any time from the ages of 8 to 17, although most people begin between the ages of 10 and 14. Remember, everybody's different. You might be the first in your class or the last and, although you might feel embarrassed to be so out of step, it is perfectly normal. When you start puberty makes no difference to how you develop. No age is better than any other -- there is simply the right age for you!
Male myth -- Girls who say "NO" don't really mean it
Some boys think that if a girl agrees to some kissing or touching, then she doesn't really mean it when she says she wants to stop. But no matter how much petting they have done, or how she is dressed, or how much money he has spent on their date -- it is NEVER, EVER okay for a boy to force a girl into any kind of sexual contact.
Gender Identity
Gender identity is not the same thing as sexual orientation. A transgender person might be heterosexual, bisexual, or homosexual. The fact that he or she is also transgender has nothing to do with who they might be attracted to.

Editorial Reviews
Review
--Real Simple, realsimple.com
"I believe this is the most complete book for parents to use with their children that I have ever encountered. It is filled with basic facts that are presented in a nonthreatening way, like a conversation. Growing up from a child to an adult can be confusing and maybe frightening at times. The physical, emotional, and even mental changes the child/adult is going through need some type of explanation. I believe this particular book does a very good job in providing some guidance for parents with the discussions that need to happen to assist their child into a healthy puberty change."

Also, it prompted some questions on topics that I don’t know I would have thought to cover on my own. I really, really wish someone had given me this book when I was ten.
