I enjoyed the intellectual banter, and verbal vollies between Maurie and Mandy. Having once myself been called things such as nerd or geek, while at the time I didn't see the humor in it, now I wear those badges with honor! And I'm thankful for having the nerd in me to be able to follow the depth of intellectual intelligence that was conveyed in this story. It was like Freud (aka Mandy) meets Fabio yet Fabio wasn't just a pretty face but a looker, he was a thinker and a very calculated doer in the bedroom or wherever they may be. And Freud wasn't just a woman with a mind, but she was also sexy and her sexual appetite was fed well by Maurie. While I feel as though I'm on intellectual overload and some may not get all the references made throughout the book, I very much enjoyed this read.
This story focuses on Maurie and Mandy. You don't actually learn their names right away, or hear them often, so it took me a second to even remember them. The two are both looking for a connection at a bar, and then run into run another. What happens afterwards is the development of a fantastic, sizzling connection between these two. Their chemistry together is perfect, and I loved that aspect of the book. Considering the book was pretty much that, it worked out in that aspect. There isn't a lot of description/development of them, other than what little you learn at first when they banter, but you'll certainly learn plenty about what they prefer sexually. Maurie is an alpha, but still very intellectual.
Overall, I really enjoyed this book! There are many good things about this book, and a few minuses. First, it is short read, which can be good and bad. If you just want to read about two people who have a really amazing connection to one another, this should be your go-to read. It is bad if you want to know what happens after this really amazing night together, as it does end rather suddenly. When the description says a night of passion, that is literally what you are getting here, an extended night. That suddenness didn't sit as well with me, but that's just me. I really liked the intellectual moments, but I imagine for some it will be a bit much. Mandy gets into her head and goes on tangents.... a lot. It is interesting if you read all of them, but it takes you out of the story. Also, as I said before, it is short, lacking development of the characters, but also plot, seeing as it is just one night of passion. Lots of passion, but nonetheless, that's it. So, if you are looking for an intellectual read, or just a short read with great heat, this is an excellent choice.
I received a complimentary copy of the book from Quill and Ink reviews. This is my honest and voluntary review of the book.
I did like the connection between the characters and how they melded so well sexually together.
The sex was hot, hot, hot! If you want a intellectual, sexy shorter read, this is definitely for you.
I received an ARC from Quill and Ink for my honest review.
