Sexual Behavior in the Human Female Hardcover – Download: Adobe Reader, May 22, 1998
Purchase options and add-ons
Originally published in 1953, the material presented in Sexual Behavior in the Human Female was derived from personal interviews with nearly 6,000 women; from studies in sexual anatomy, physiology, psychology, and endocrinology. The study revealed the incidence and frequency with which women participate in various types of sexual activity and how such factors as age, decade of birth, and religious adherence are reflected in patterns of sexual behavior. The authors make comparisons of female and male sexual activities and investigate the factors which account for the similarities and differences between female and male patterns of behavior and provide some measure of the social significance of the various types of sexual behavior.

I love what Kinsey did for the field of sexual research... So I give it 5 stars... I'll probably buy the hardcover and use it as a coffee table book to make me look smart.
You can find some valuable data, you really have to mine for it.
contains a lot of charts that are covered in the text that you can skip over.

Thank you.
The research involved interviewing many thousands of women. As the first study of its kind, focussing on women, it received much media attention - and Kinsey was established as a public figure. Criticism of the research focussed on both the sampling techniques and the use of questionnaires to ascertain behaviour. Today, this book - while still readable - is rather dated, and its style of presentation is rather dry.
This was a historically important piece of work, and contributed to laying the foundations for the modern study of human sexuality. On that basis, I recommend it.
