Filters water nicely

Mine last about 6 months before I have to change these filters. It's cheaper than buying bottled water. It filters out more than some water purifiers do. The water tastes really good. You'll be able to tell when the filter needs changing by how quickly/slowly it filters through. A new one filters through in a few minutes. An older one on its last leg can take hours. It seems to happen suddenly rather than gradually. But 6 months or so is a nice length of time. It will depend on how many times you filter water through each day as to how long it lasts for you. My husband and I usually fill ours up twice or more per day. It fills up fast enough to use the water with cooking as well. We actually have two pitchers that we use simultaneously because we drink so much water.

Black charcoal dust poured out of this filter during the initial rinse. An alarming amount. Then I noticed at the bottom of the pitcher was a layer of white gunk. Also in the bottom of the tea kettle was the same white gunk. I had filled the tea kettle from the pitcher each day. The filters that I had purchased directly from Seychelles did not have these problems. Only the filters from Amazon.

Wish they were a littler cheaper...but I have to avoid fluoride as much as possible and can't yet afford a whole house system. We buy spring water for drinking and use the Seychelle filter for cooking and making ice. My biggest problem is not really knowing when the filters really need changing. I usually replace them every 3 months to be on the safe side. I also use the ZeroWater filters, which removes everything, like mechanically distilling; the company told me to change them when the monitor reads 002 to keep out fluoride. But my family likes the taste of the Seychelle water better, and it doesn't filter out the minerals.

Does not consistently raise pH

Tested the pH of the water and it was between 7.2-7.6. So the filters did not raise the pH of the water at all. Pretty disheartening because its ability to raise the pH is why I bought it. This is the first time I've ordered replacements, which is actually kind of early, but I ordered replacements now because the pH was no longer high. I thought perhaps the filters just dont last as long or for as many gallons as advertised. I wrote the sellers. Waiting for a reply regarding how they will fix this.
