I finally went for this pickup knowing that with Seymour Duncan is hard to get a dull pickup, also since this pickup is split it allowed to have more than one pickup in the lapsteel.
This pickup by parts:
RAIL - The rail is really good, it gets all the bends, vibratos and strechs of the strings will playing with different tonebars (ceramics, chrome, bronze, even with a glass...) there is no mute spots. the high tones are well defined and yet sweet. the bottoms, are balanced... it sounds like a really well made neck position Strat pickup. very little noise. it plays well pop, light rock and hawaiian styles on the Steel.
P90 - Wow, it growls, it has punch, normal bottoms, crisp highs, and good mids... it's very responsible and really quiet for a single coin this big. when playing the high hopes slide solo it does make a difference. it has a really close sound to the Dark side of the moon lapsteel solos.
Humbucker (Rail + P90 in parallel) - is a high gain thick sounding beast, it captures the high's mids and bottoms... it makes my amps break nicely without needing to add boosters to the sound line. with my simple 5W tube Amp it makes it go dirty (good dirty) earlier on the volume than my other guitars. Nice blues & rock sound.
Humbucker (Rail + P90 In Series) yet to be tested but I think like it would be a really loud pickup.
This is a great pickup and I'm sure that on many guitars should get great results.
