The Shack is a truly inspiring book. The story is fantastic and compelling. Few books can bring tears to my eyes , this was one of them. I do not agree with some of the doctrine that is shared in this book, as it conflicts with the Holy Bible. As long as you understand that this book is fiction, and the Holy Bible is the inspired word of God, all will be well.

I didn't care for the author's perception of the Trinity -- some of his ideas seemed very skewed away from the scriptures as I understand them. His attempts seemed flawed.

This is the BEST book I have read to date. I had never read a book that have literally penetrated the depths of my heart. While reading over half of this book I just cried and cried and cried!! It really ministered to me in ways I can't even explain. God really dealt with me through this book. The way the Trinity was made tangible was awesome and it opened my eyes to the very nature of God. This book has definitely challenged me to be vulnerable and ask God to heal every deep hurt in my heart and to fill every empty place in me so I can live in the freedom of healing and wholeness. I will forever be changed. Thanks to everyone that have made this book what it is and thanks to author for sharing your story. 💜💜💜

Forgiveness is not only for the person you forgive. It is also for yourself. It does not mean you forget the sin. It's quite a load to carry along with you every day. I enjoyed the part where Mack is telling Papa what we all feel at times. "If God is so good, why does He allow such pain & such tragedy to happen to His Children?" (Paraphrasing) You hear a lot of people thinking "Why did God Allow this to happen to me?" I've felt it myself. But knowing that He was with me & has been helping me through it makes all the difference. The forgiving the person has been hard but, this book has set me on a path to work on just that. Thank you for that. I will be suggesting all of my friends to read it. (Even though I am very late to the game)

I didn't care for the story mainly because it conflicts with my beliefs. It moves along quite slowly and I lost interest along the way.

Must read it as fiction. It has things that we can learn from it BUT it has A LOT of unbiblical content. As a person who knows how to distinguish fact from fiction I could read it without problems. If you are in a good bible based church then you will not have problems distinguishing what is true or not regarding the content. To new church members cautiously read it, any doubts go to your pastor for guidance and clarifying.

It is difficult to articulate the impact this book has had on me. I have always felt a connection to the holy and the Holy but I have bristled at the contrivance of organized religion. What is so deeply and simply beautiful about this story is that it strips away all but the powerful truth about love and relationship to the self and the Self. I will be pondering this story for some time.

As a foster parent I have seen the worst of what we are capable. I know in my heart (soul?) that we are not defined by our worst act but I struggle with forgiveness. Forgiveness has been the lesson that alludes me. This book has offered a way to look at forgiveness as the simple but power act it is.

As I read I searched my heart. I wanted to assure that I had forgiven all that caused me pain growing up. I was so intrigued how the author imagined The Trinity. I re-read some of the words and they touched a deep place in my heart. This is such a good book. I went and saw the movie before I read the book. I plan with friends and family to go see the movie again.

This book is incredible. My mom, wife, and I all read this book together and were blown away. The imagery, the metaphors, the story, the explanation of tragedy, confronting God, and more is parallel to none. I highly recommend to anyone looking for a new perspective on life, spirituality, relationships, tragedy, etc. Believer or not, this book is a must read.

I can't stop talking about it, and I actually need to order another one because I gave my copy away to a friend. I want it on my shelf though to loan out again to someone in need.

Well, first know that I am a spiritual person always searching to know and understand God. I LOVE God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. I LOVE the book which I read first, then watched the movie. I also read Mark Pertuit's, Questioning God's Identity. He expressed many truths, used scriptures to support his experience, and I understand what he had to say from a "bench members" perspective. Then I read Gary and Cathy Deddo's book, God, The Bible and The Shack. So many biblical truths that fit perfectly in support of the book. I long for my own experience with the Trinity. The Shack portrays an Almighty God that LOVEs unconditionally His entire creation. The Shack, conveyed so many answers to so many questions we have about God; love, fellowship, unity, fear, pain, anger, hatred, unforgiveness, forgiveness, judging, truth, trust, hope, sin and evil. Now, I read and watch the movie in segments praying for greater meaning and understanding to serve others who may be hurting and need a "shack" experience.
