This is the second book in the Shade paranormal mystery novels. Shades mother moves them again, and this time to a trailer park outside Roswell New Mexico. Yet again, Shade has to deal with a new school, new friends, and a new city. Shade quickly gets involved in the war between the local shape shifters and Skin walkers, while juggling school and Alien abductions. Shade also finds the time and energy to keep looking for the last of the girls who went missing in the last book. This is a another good young adult mystery that is hard to put down once started. I loved the descriptions of life in a trailer park combined with the twist of added supernatural characters. It's a really well written young adult mystery that would warmly recommend to others.
Ms Peake has done a great job with writing the characters and background. You feel like you are there, right along with Shade and her friends.
She touches on real life problems that teens have, but in such an entertaining way that you don't realize that you just might be learning something worthwhile.
I Highly Recommend This Series.
Shade’s first night in her new home in a trailer park in New Mexico, she meets Kai, who will become her new best friend. They both have special abilities and they will need them.
Shade is very familiar with ghosts…so what comes next?
Her other best friend Misty is still missing (from the first book, Shade) and she can’t let it go. Now, she has a new mystery to solve, a serial killer who must be stopped.
Shapeshifters good. Skinwalkers bad. We have kidnapping, human trafficking, sex slavery, murder, ghosts, Native American culture, mysticism…so much going on that I was never left wanting for something else to happen, some new threat to raise its evil and ugly head.
We hop from fantasy to reality and back again.
I love flawed characters, struggling through life, trying to do the right thing. It is so much fun watching them grow into the people they are meant to be.
Shade has an awesome group of friends and a new bestie. I can hardly wait to see how that plays out, as they head off to college. The characters are amazing and lovable, and Shade’s mom…well don’t want to spoil anything…So I will be looking for more adventure in the next book of the series.
I voluntarily reviewed a free copy of Shade and the Skinwalkers by Marilyn Peake.
