About the Author

I write my fiction inside a volcano. The twenty-two novels and two short story collections I've published were all composed in Koko Crater, a dormant cinder cone near my home on the outskirts of Honolulu, Hawai'i.

The concept is original and very interesting but it could have been a better read if the excessive descriptions and philosophical musings were shortened. It seemed that every time there was a crisis a new avenue of escape opened that allowed the main characters to avoid total catatrophe. Maybe my views are based on reading fantasy works that move along faster.

I've enjoyed this author's work for years. Haven't had the problems encountered by the other reviewer and, besides, I've dictionaries all over the place. Then again, I finished The Name of the Rose with no problem. Anyway, it's a good read and well worth the effort.

Read this as a first read of this author and found it a little on the rambling side It made several religious statements that were interesting. Over all not a bad read.

I liked the book very much. I did have a little trouble in following the story line and keeping the numerous input of named people were a little hard to follow

It seem to drag at the beginning with too much exposition. It was so involved I couldn't get into it.

This is a very good piece of work. Very interesting and well written, but at the same time it seems formulaic, As I read more I can tell what is going to happen next. This is not a bad thing a good sandwich still tastes good.

I don't like to leave bad reviews, but sometimes you just don't have a choice. This book might be awesome, but it uses way too many descriptions and the vocabulary used is above my comprehension level. I have a college degree in business, and I have always loved to read, so I come across new words all the time and love the kindle dictionary feature. But when I come across 5 unfamiliar words on one page, and those words are just fancy words for things like dirt (telluric, if you're interested), well, it's just too much for me. I got to 7% before giving up on this book. I wish I could read more but I don't want to sit with an open dictionary next to me.
