I can always count on a few things when I read Ms. Galenorn's books:

There will probably be cats and they won't ever be harmed (this is very important)

I will want various coffee drinks like a mocha latte.

I will be entertained and engrossed in the story.

Ms. Galenorn is a brilliant storyteller. In this particular novel I was glad to meet a heroine who didn't go rushing into situations without thinking through the dangers and how those who care about her might feel.

The story flowed well, gently nudging the plot along. The magic shop setting is a common one but Ms. Galenorn creates unique stories, blending in a number of characters. I cannot think of one of her novels that didn't involve the concept of a chosen family.

I'm really looking forward to the next book in this series, and any book by Ms. Galenorn. I recommend this book, it is a strong start for a series. She doesn't really promote her older series as the traditional publisher still has rights. However, I absolutely loved her Sisters of the Moon series, even if she doesn't promote it.
