*Warning* Possible Triggers! This book contains a female and male recovering from rape, sexual assault, and abuse. The subject is handled carefully and it is reliving/retelling of the incidents but still may be to much for some. This whole series is dealing with a group of people who have been assaulted/abused but some of the books delve into that more than others.*
Shadow is back at Homeland for some time off from the human task force. While patrolling the interior he tracks down what he thinks is a rogue human running through the park at night in terrible storm. Shadow tackles the culprit to the ground only to be horrified when he sees who it really is. Beauty is sick of listening to the other New Species in the dorm hooking up with males. She is lonely and wants to interact with New Species males so she can get to know them. But Beauty is a Gift Female and all males have been ordered to stay away from her and she has been ordered to stay inside the female’s dorm. Beauty wakes from a nightmare and decides to get some fresh air to clear her mind only to be tackled to the ground by the most handsome New Species male she has ever seen.
This book gets better as it goes along but the beginning bugs me because Beauty is doing most of the chasing and Shadow is forced against his wishes to spend time with her in a remote area for a purpose that he is still messed up over. He voices this complaint and refuses but they still make him go and Beauty is treated a like a prisoner of the female dorm, which is also counterintuitive to the New Species culture in general. What’s worse is they don’t really get to stand up for themselves about it all, they both express a lot of complaints via inter monologue but don’t verbalize them, so that’s frustrating. I really can’t believe the New Species leadership in general would force anyone to do anything against their wishes with what they have all been through, but they do. Shadow gets very possessive and protective and so does Beauty so thats sweet. They are both new and innocent to the ways of courtship and relationships and it’s endearing. So, this is not a favorite book of the series but it gets better halfway through. It is still worth the read and the price. Enjoy!
I really like Beauty and Shadow and how they are really perfect for each other. I would love to see a way for them to have a baby at some point.
Shadow and Beauty are both damaged by what was done to them by Mercile the research facility that created them. Even though there is danger around them Shadow and Beauty are drawn to each other. Their characters are strong and vulnerable at the same time. Beauty truly isn't a weak or feeble female, she is strong and fights for what she desires most. I loved the struggle in the story of their relationship and it isn't all easy. This book reminded me of real life so much. There is struggle in everything in life but it is up to the person to determine if the struggle is worth it. I praise Laurann Dohner for this book and series. This one especially touched my heart.
Although I’d love more of those tender moments together of them just doing something sweet and simplistic together that bonds them other than just sex all the time, this turned out to be one of the more romantic stories the author has written in this series.
Of course I loved the action, the plot, and adored Shadow and Beauty. Such a great read!

so far this series has just been ok for me,i have stuck with it as some of the secondary characters (especially Breeze & Vengeance) seem very appealing and interesting.however, their stories have yet to be told and what has been given now just isn't that good.i doubt i will wait it out and keep buying these books, especially as they are so expensive!
one good thing though is that in general these books can be read as stand alone novels.i think i will keep an eye out for the ones to come that i think i will enjoy, rather than buying every book that comes out. 2.5 stars*

I loved in this book how a Gift female completely comes out of her herself and she really packs a wallop. She has real strength and goes after what she wants.... just to feel loved.. like a normal female. Shadow thinks he's too damaged inside but of course these two are perfect to heal each others wounds.
Great to find out more about Wild Zone too.. more and more is being found out about this community in every book. Wonderful series.
