Shadow's book was Fantastically written. His story was heartbreaking and torturing. I had tears many times for both him and Alex.
Shelia's Book Corner
One of my go to favorite authors for MC, she always has a way of putting together romance that is simultaneously hot and sweet with action and suspense that keeps me on my toes. Shadow grabbed me from the very start pulling me in with a prologue that had me on the edge of my seat and didn't let me go until the very end.

Two people living with terrible past and running still to this day. Shadow and Alex are perfect for one another. He needs her light and she needs his protection. Awesome storyline with phenomenal twist. This one is a definite must read.

Each guy is able to own a piece of my heart. And Shadow isn't exception. That tormented beautiful and protective soul. I just wanted to hug him. And keep him.
I absolutely loved Shadow and Alex! The flaws that both of them have, while different, make them one hell of a couple!
This was truly a story of finding one's self, putting all the bad stuff behind you, and finding the life you were meant to have.
-Book Club Gone Wrong
This couple may very well be one of my favorites by this author.
I have read everything from L. Wilder and I can confidently say that her writing gets better and better.
Awesome storyline with phenomenal twist. This one is a definite must read.

Alex has her own past. She ran. Found a home with the older owner of a bookstore. Eight years later her invitation to come in out of the rain and she was bequeathed the store and apartment. It was a real loss for her heart. Then a big burly biker started coming in for the free coffee and to sit and read for thirty minutes, buying nothing and leaving money on the counter. He was gorgeous. Never said a word but his stares said a lot. Was this hot guy really feeling the same heat she was feeling?
He was but didn't deserve a woman like Alex. When she invited him to dinner he meant to say no. Not what came out of his mouth. The dinner was their beginning. Deserving or not he wanted her and wasn't letting her go. As much as she wanted him she was afraid she'd have to leave him to keep her past behind her. Meanwhile, the club was having problems as well. It seems the war they just fought wasn't their only enemy. Once again they'd prove no one messed with Satan's Fury.
Both found peace as well as steam and excitement together. When her past enters will she let the club and his brothers protect her?
Learning the reason for Shadow's silence and nightmares made me want him to find his Alex and the solace she provides. A couple I needed to see make it. There is club excitement as well as steam and a tender side of man no one knew until Alex. The brothers are loyal, strong, and badboys everyone. I'm ready to find out about Riggs and his sharp mind.
We met Shadow in book one as the silent and troubled MC brother. He spoke very little and it was obvious he had demons he lived with daily. In book two, we learn he was also smart, gorgeous, well read and totally alpha.
Alex Carpenter was the smart and beautiful bookstore owner where Shadow frequented. We learned quickly that she had secretly been on the run for eight years.
Alex and Shadow didn’t have much contact with each other at first, although they saw each other daily and were very aware of the other. Once they did, there was some push and pull, but not much and I loved watching them quickly develop. Simultaneously, the MC suspenseful plot was unfolding alongside a peek into Alex’s past. Once they connected, the storylines merged and became one big suspenseful and intriguing plot.
It was well written, well developed, dark, and a fast read. It had some editing errors, but none too distracting. Otherwise, it was entertaining and I can’t wait to read Riggs next.
Shadow has survived, the loss of his family, a horrific foster home and the witnessed death of a young friend. He lives with the nightmares, nightly. He has recently, become the MC enforcer and he's good at getting answers.
Alex, for the last eight years, she has lived in hiding as a bookstore owner, after the woman who took her in and died, leaving her with the bookstore. During those years every morning, a man comes in makes himself a cup of coffee, goes to find a book and sits down to read for an hour. She wonders his story and decides to try and make a conversation with him, but his answers are singular in response.
Shadow doesn't believe in, LOVE at first sight, but after seeing his brothers falling for their women and Alex, maybe what he feels is love.
But now Alex is in trouble and Shadow and the MC have to step up and protect the one thing he can't live without.
Alex has her own set of problems that she is running from but these two just click. When all of Alex’s dark past comes to the light Shadow is right by her side. He doesn’t abandon her when that would be advisable. They are like two tortured souls healing each other. I highly recommend this book!!
