This book was about redemption. Simply written so anyone can be blessed by it. The writer took the sins of a man (and woman) and showed how God can forgive a person from their past. Goss also shows that God still wants to bless people with pasts too. Just because someone makes a bad choice doesn’t mean that we shouldn’t seek forgiveness nor should we hold it against a person because they have a past. I think Goss wrote this book in such a way that both a reader with a past or a reader with a grudge against someone can learn that God forgives and seeks to see that person redeemed completely.
I didn’t find anything inappropriate in the book. Goss shows how relationships grow and with true feelings. No one is perfect and with those imperfection's we learn and grow our relationships with others and God. This book shows that throughout each page.
I have no problem recommending this read!
Note to anyone who read the 1 star rating…that person didn’t read the book! Not sure why anyone would write a 1 star rating on a book that they didn’t read. Not fair to the author nor is it fair to readers seeking direction in purchasing a book.
Jonas Armstrong feels like he has to punish himself for the rest of his life by making up for his sins that were forgiven years ago. When Ivy moves into town with her Pastor father and family, Jonas and Ivy are instantly drawn towards one another. She is the new pretty girl in town and many people are attracted to her. There is just one problem. He does not want his reputation to taint her own.
Like all her novels there are so many twists and turns. Someone is blackmailing him because the opportunity prevents itself. Will he say enough is enough or will he keep paying the blackmail, so he does not have to relive what happened to him 5 years previously? He has worked so hard to move forward with his life. He would rather live a quiet, reclusive life than letting his past be revealed once again, especially because he does not want Ivy to look down upon him. He wants to be her friend at least, and he fears what will happen if she finds out?
Will Ivy find out about his past? The million dollar question is will Ivy be able to forgive him herself? If she does forgive him, can he get past his sins that were forgiven years ago? Will he let his prior reputation stand in the way of true love? Is Jonas destined to continue working and staying home without having any contact with the outside world? Will he find out who is blackmailing him? The best part of this story is a bond that he develops with a surprising character. However, the only way to find out the answers to these questions is to read her book. If she keeps writing this way, big names like Karen Kingsbury and Nicholas Spark are going to have some competition. Never in a million years did I think anyone could surpass Nicholas Sparks or Karen Kingsbury, but the more books I read from Barbara Goss the more my favorite author is beginning to change. I have read 6 books by her now, and LOVED EVERY SINGLE ONE!!!! My all time favorite one is close. It was Temptation by Moonlight, but with this new book, I can't determine which one I love more. If you have not read Temptation by Moonlight, I would read that book after this one and judge for yourself.
