Shadow Stealer definitely shares the strengths of the first two books of the trilogy. The action and events are a little more intense in this book, as is befitting the final book in a trilogy about demon hunters, but the humor is definitely still there as well! Melissa Giorgio understands what makes YA books great and applies that understanding well throughout the entire trilogy.
You've probably already bought this if you've read the Soul Healer, because who wouldn't have after the cliffhanger Soul Healer ends with! But if you haven't checked out the Silver Moon saga at all yet, do it! You won't regret it!
Gabi is a force of nature who runs on chocolate and is so unabashedly herself. She was a strong character and I really liked her. I will be encouraging my daughter to read this series and the excellent companion books. Can't wait to read more Melissa Giorgio!
There are a lot of jaw-dropping twists in this book, too. Just when you think you’ve got it all figured out, there’s something even more unexpected. There’s a new character in particular whose identity I won’t divulge here, but suffice to say, I think the character is really brought to life as both likeable and flawed.
The secondary characters, as usual, really make this world shine. Rafe, Evan, Phil, Kain and now Alex are there to crack jokes, amusingly fight amongst themselves and kick some major demon butt. And of course, the Gabi x Rafe moments are adorable.
I’m sad to see this series end! But I’m looking forward to Giorgio sharing all her new worlds.
