***I choose what I read and review based on what intrigues me!! I bought this book, but no one tells me what to think, feel, or write about any book! I have already bought the next book too!
This is the 2nd book in the series, and it is for adults only due to the steamy content. While you do not have to read in order, I think you understand the characters of the brotherhood better if you do read them in order.
Samson comes to help Hendrik when his daughter disappears. Samson has some baggage that you learn about in this book. Valetta is strong and brave and tries to protect those people she claims. There is plenty of action and mysteries going on in this book to keep you entertained as you read. The more I learn about this world the more I like it! It will be interesting to read what happens next.
I recommend to any wolf shifter fans who want a unique world and plenty of action.
Other than that, I enjoyed it. Enjoyable characters, interesting plot, and I do love shape-shifters.
One caveat to this book is that I saw evidence of sloppy editing and I purely hate sloppy editing. Godman makes the point over and over that when the wolves shift back to human, that they are naked and lusciously so. If that's the case, how did a just-shifted Samson nudge Konrad with a boot?
Liked how this volume built on the first, although I still wonder how these people manage to live hundreds of years without being discovered. Liked that this book was longer but it still felt a bit short and the back story was not well developed.
Samson Lee is one of the Brotherhood. His mate was killed centuries ago and he isn’t looking for another. However, five years ago he kissed the daughter of another member of the Brotherhood and was severely tempted. That member has now retired but has contacted Samson because his daughter has mysteriously disappeared. Samson is determined to find her and to discover more about a rogue gang of Arctic werewolves. When he discovers she’s not only with the rogues but also their leader, he convinces her to let him work with her as she tries to discover just what the end goal of the gang is. This is another fact paced adventure where the seven members of the Brotherhood have to work together, applying their knowledge, skills and wolves to help defeat a common enemy. However, be prepared, that ending is amazing and I can’t wait to read more from this series in future!
I’m impressed with Jane Godman’s ability to bring the Brotherhood to life within the pages of her novel. Each character is emotively portrayed and the scenery feels breath taking, though I can only see it through her words in my imagination. This is a fast paced story with plenty of twist and turns to make it another page turner that I highly recommend to anyone who enjoys paranormal mysteries, with good v evil and so much more in a heart warming romance.
Many thanks to the publishers for gifting me a copy of this novel, via NetGalley, with no obligation. This is my honest review.
Valetta feels herself unworthy of being loved and has slipped away from Samson before. Now she’s going to need his help and that of other members of the Arctic Brotherhood to avoid certain death – her own or others.
Shadow Wolf is extremely fast paced with a story line that will capture your attention. While Samson came off as a bit of a jerk in the first story in this series, it’s always a delight to discover the other side of a character. He is intense, and yes, very much over the top in his Alpha ways, but his heart is golden and his cause is true. His attraction to Valetta is intense and he has his work cut out for him in keeping her safe… and convincing her that as his mate, she is worth all of his love and more.
I enjoyed this second story in the Arctic Brotherhood very much. It moves the overlying story along and gives us more lore on these wolves and their mates. The only thing I’m not particularly thrilled with are the epilogues – I’d rather read more of the couple’s near future and not a lead in to the next villain, but that’s my preference. Over all, this is an intriguing shifter romance that anyone who enjoys Paranormal Romance would find interesting.
*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*
